CSI- I saw a CSI the other day that kinda annoyed me. So they were investigating this girl's disappearance and when they find her corpse, what they think is her murder. Like she was having an affair with a prof, and his wife had found out, so there was no shortage of possible killers.
Turns out, she was killed due to a "confluence of events". She was wanting to leave school, and obviously she needed all the money she could get, and thus wanted her security deposit back. So, she had to leave her room the same way it was left. So she cleaned, only when dumping the trash, because the door to the trash chute was faulty, it caused her to drop the can down the chute. Since she couldn't get her deposit back without it, she went to get it.
Only, it was a rainy night, and there was traffic outside her dorm, so some random guy who was in a rush went down that alley because he thought his wife was in labor and was in a rush to get to the hospital. Which would've been meaningless in the scheme of things, only there was a van double parked in the alley. The guy swerved to get around the van, only to hit the dumpster. Unfortunately for the girl, for some reason she was trying to get into the dumpster from the back, where the guy couldn't see her. I guess she was using the wall to brace herself to get the leverage to pull herself up or something, which pushed the dumpster slightly away from the wall, which is why the random guy hit it.
Which ended up bouncing the dumpster back on her, crushing her ribs and puncturing her heart. And so she fell in, and since no one looked in the dumpster, her body was carted off to the junkyard. Anyways, whatever, that's all fine. The problem is, Grissom explains the events to her parents, and they're skeptical. We don't hear Grissom's explanation, but the parents reply, "What do you mean its a weird confluence of events!?" And they refuse to believe it and are going to hire an investigator. And Grissom laments the fact they're going to do that, telling his people, saying some shit like, some people need to invent a reason for things to make sense.
And I'm thinking, maybe they didn't believe him because he explained it in some BS philosophical way trying to be all poetic about a series of random events leading to their daughter's death. I think if he just said, yeah, your daughter was trying to get something out of the dumpster and there was no way the driver could see her and accidentally swiped the dumpster and killed her, maybe they'd be more receptive to the explanation.
Voltron- ARGH!!! Are you serious?! They end on a cliffhanger? When is the 2nd season? I hope there is one, I mean, the reviews seem favorable so hopefully there will be! I mean, even if you weren't a fan of the original cartoon, like I said, this is well put together. The character interactions are very reminiscent of Avatar, so even though its about people piloting space lion robots that form a bigger robot instead of people with the power to bend elements, I think if one enjoyed Avatar, they'll like this.
But I digress, onto that cliffhanger! The gang almost escapes in the nick of time- only Haggar hits the wormhole with her magic, destabilizing it. Coran says they have no control over where the Castle of Lions will end up. And for some reason, the lions get sucked out of the hangar bay and are most likely transported to all over the universe. So everyone's separated, and we'll have to wait next season to see how that all turns out.
And there's so many other questions! Who lowered the barrier to allow them to jump in the first place. I wasn't sure if its a Galra we've already seen and just didn't recognize. Either way, why did he help them? Also, Zarkon in this is incredibly bad-ass. But even more interesting is not only does he have his own Bayard, but he's powerful enough to freaking fight the red lion on his own. Like, as himself, not turning into a robeast or anything. But yeah, between possessing a Bayard and making a cryptic statement about the Black Lion being returned to its original Paladin, was Zarkon the original Black Paladin? Allura did tell Shiro that the Bayard that should have gone to him was lost with its Paladin. It could be because its Zarkon.
Also, what does it mean when Keith absorbed all that quintessence? They wouldn't focus on it if it didn't mean anything. I mean, was did that give him the boost he needed to surprise Zarkon during their fight with the cannon blast? Like I wasn't sure if that was normal Red Lion stuff, or if the quintessence made him tougher than Zarkon expected?
More stuff, the fight between Haggar and Shiro in the hangar with Haggar casting mirror image was reminiscent of Haggar injuring Sven in the original show. I thought the same might happen to Shiro here, which made me think if they would shuffle pilots around and make Allura a pilot. The problem with that though is, it seems the pilot and lion share a bond. It wouldn't make sense for things to shift around to match the original, with Keith getting black, Lance getting red, and Allura getting blue. Like, I guess its possible for Keith to become leader and get the black lion after his possible quintessence boost. And when Allura was doing her schpeel matching the lions to the pilots personality, she never explained Lance's because Lance interrupted her and gave his own reasoning. But when they described the red lion, Keith was suited to it because it required a pilot with great instincts. I mean, Lance is a great pilot too, but given the personality stuff, it would be weird if he shifted to red. I guess if Shiro does go the way of Sven, maybe Allura will be the black paladin.
I guess we'll find out whenever this show (hopefully!) returns.
