Orphan Black- Some interesting developments in the season premiere. So this ep is technically a flashback, following a few days in the life of Beth. Heh, because the ep takes place in the past, its chock full of guest stars. The blast in the past is fun, although its also weird to realize this show has killed a whole bunch of people since more than a few people we see are dead nowadays.
We also meet a new clone MK (or Mika, as Beth calls her) Interestingly enough, while Alison and Cos thought Beth was the one with all the answers, looks like she was getting her info from MK. A rightfully paranoid clone who's only alive because they think she's already dead. I'm not sure if Beth was already an addict before all this (I guess she was if the chief was asking Art if she's been going to meetings), but MK opening her eyes to this world has definitely driven her to drugs. Heh, as we see, it definitely killed her relationship with Paul, because eventually she stopped caring about keeping up the charade. She was totally about to blow his head off, and he had no idea!
Heh, MK seems cool enough, she seems to have skillz, at least in hiding and surveillance. She almost seems like a sane Helena. And the lamb mask definitely make her unique. Though I've always found it a little clunky when they introduce a character who's supposedly been around the entire time, we just haven't been aware. And as we see in the end, she's definitely still around, since she finds Art to get into contact with Sarah to warn her people have found her and are coming.
But yeah, other big things we found out in the flashback- I had mentioned last season, if they were implying Art liked Beth in that way, and now, we see they were definitely an item, even while she was with Paul. Also, did we know Art helped Beth cover up Maggie Chen's death? What's interesting though, I think we always thought Beth killed her because she was a monitor, but it turns out she killed her by accident. She was trying to escape, and Maggie showed up behind her and Beth shot on instinct. So as far as poor Beth knew, she killed some poor innocent woman!
Its also interesting that Sarah spend so much time hiding stuff from Art, when it seems like Beth was getting him to help with some shady stuff. He was totally unaware of the clone stuff, but its funny, but Sarah as Beth could've told him about all this crazy stuff back in the day and he prolly would've been accepting. I mean, I guess part of Art's distrust in the first season is because he was in love with Beth, so to him Sarah was this girl who took over the life of, and possibly killed, a woman he loved.
Other stuff, heh, Beth runs into Dr Leekie, and he's with a mysterious woman named Evie Cho at the time. I'm guessing she'll be someone important too?
