TV commentary:

Teen Wolf- Ah, its as everyone was expecting! The Beast is Mason. Or it is at least 99% probable its him, we don't actually see him turn into the Beast. But the clues sure do point that direction. During a tussle with the Beast, Scott gets the Beast's scent. Which he follows to a car, where he finds bloody sneakers. And its Mason's car. Mason is incredulous, but then Corey (who again, I thought may have figured it out last week since he made a weird face after he and Mason kissed) grabs him and they run off invisibly. He was prolly watching invisibly because he was keeping tabs on Mason now because he figured out he was the Beast first.

Heh, meanwhile, Gerard is telling Lydia a story about the Beast, and the person who originally killed it, Marie Jeanne Valet. It was cool to see Crystal Reed again, and the flashback was cool though truthfully, the story didn't need to be as long as it was when you think about it (though I guess it may not have actually taken as long telling as it did the audience seeing).

I mean, Lydia wants to leave all, "What's the point?" And really, he could've said it in a few sentences: Marie Jeanne was this bad-ass huntress (of normal creatures) and then her brother ended up secretly being the Beast. So she killed him/it, became a huntress of supernatural creatures. Oh, and she's Gerard and Chris' ancestor. Which is funny, because obviously the audience knew that, since she was being played by Crystal Reed, so it kinda takes the punch out of it at the end. Like, it may be a surprise to Lydia, but it wasn't a shock to the audience, because it was obvious. And at the same time, its not so big a reveal that we should be surprised for Lydia's sake. It shouldn't be a mind blowing revelation- "Oh gee, you guys, from a family of hunters, are related to a famous hunter from the 18th Century?"

I guess even weirder is the pretense for telling Lydia the story. They're worried that Parrish won't be able to cut it, so they tell Lydia she is their next hope and try to get her on board with the story. Which is kinda random, since 1) Marie Jeanne isn't he ancestor and 2) they have varying skill sets/abilities. MJ was a huntress. Lydia is a banshee. I mean, they're both girls, and Lydia was best friends with one of her descendants, but that's all. So why does that story mean Lydia can defeat the beast? If they told the story to Allison, sure. But I'm not seeing the parallels to Lydia.
