Walking Dead- Heh, that was quick. Its kinda hilarious that the post credits scene of the fall finale made it look like Abraham, Daryl, and Sasha were in dire straits. But nope, Negan's men foolishly sent one guy alone with Daryl to look in the back of the truck, and Daryl easily subdues the guy and blows the baddies up with a rocket launcher when they menace Abraham and Sasha. Which good, I despise brigands like that, who demand you give them all your shit or else. Eff you, I don't know you! I mean, obviously I wouldn't suicidally take on a half dozen guys with automatic weapons in my face. But its like, yeah, I can play nice and pretend to give you my stuff, but like in the ep, if I see an opening, I'm going to kill you all for your insolence.
But yeah, back in Alexandria, Jessie and her family dies just like in the comics. Her littlest cries like a little wimp (though they have Carol's voice echo in his head about the time she said she was going to tie him to a tree and let the zombies eat him if he ever crosses her, which, are they trying to make this her fault? More on that later!) and gets his ass eaten. She's distraught and also gets eaten. Too bad she's holding Carl's hand and won't let go in her death throes, so Rick chops it off with an axe. And while he does it, he sees flashes of her in better days, I guess to show how distraught and conflicted he is. But, on the show he hardly knew her!
Actually, there is a change from the comics. Here, Jessie's other son picks up a gun and tries to murder Rick for I guess chopping his mom's hand off to save Carl, but its not like Rick killed his mom, zombies did that. But yeah, Michonne stabs him with a sword, but he still gets a shot off, shooting Carl's eye off like in the comics. Heh, in the comics, Carl got hit by a stray shot when Douglas (Deanna's counterpart in the comics) wildly fires at the zombies. Here though, I get Rick was about to get shot, but Michonne still murdered a kid to try and save Rick.
Meanwhile, Wolf guy tries to escape with Denise, and they almost make it to the wall when Denise gets held up, so wolf guy goes to save her, and gets bit in the process. Anyways, they're both surprised he would try and save her, him especially, since going against his everyone for themselves mentality actually ends up getting him killed. They manage to run back to an empty house, and Denise tells him if they can get to the infirmary, she can fix him. Which I guess is total bullshit, but I suppose she needed some way to motivate him.
So they bust out and he's helping fight off zombies, only for Carol to snipe him from a balcony. Luckily, Denise still makes it to the infirmary. But like the scene with Sam freaking out, are they trying to do stuff to make the Carol vs Morgan argument less one sided? Because before, I think the majority thought Morgan was being an idiot. But now they act like Carol gave Sam a complex. And then she kills the wolf guy when he was actually helping this time. Which, she didn't know that. And I don't think he saved Denise initially out of the goodness of his heart. He kidnapped her because he was sick and needed her. It would've all been for naught if he didn't actually abscond with her.
But yeah, she makes it to the infirmary just in time for Rick and Michonne to get there with Carl. So, she starts working on him, and a distraught Rick just runs back out and dives into the middle of the horde and pulls a Tyrese. Michonne and everyone else holed up there help him out. And everyone else sees this Eric and Olivia in one house, Carol, Tara, Rosita, Morgan, and Eugene from where they are. Even Father Gabriel, who's holed up with Tobin and some other people praying for salvation is inspired- he tells them they're prayers are answered, God has given them the courage (heh, I would've been amused if someone had said, "What do you mean, given 'us' courage?") to go out there and join the fight to save their town.
Also going on, Enid and Glenn go to save Maggie. I guess Enid is going to be Sophia 2.0? I forgot Glenn and Maggie had adopted Sophia in the comics after comics-Carol had died. So she's gonna be like their surrogate daughter? But I digress, Glenn sends Enid to rescue Maggie while he makes a bunch of noise to lead the zombies away from her. Just when he's cornered and it seems like he's going to die, Sasha and Abraham show up and save him. They all pile into the tanker truck and set a blaze to attract the zombies. Apparently I missed this, but they actually got that plan from possibly-Dwight, as he had mentioned his people doing that to clear a forest of zombies.
What the hell though, rockets don't grow on trees. They could've set the fuel ablaze with something else! But cool that they're using that American improved version of the RPG-7, that would be a useful weapon for the apocalypse. Actually, its a useful weapon now. I mean, the reason an American company made a "modernized" version of the classic Russian weapon is because the US doesn't have anything like that in their arsenal. The majority of their anti-tank weapons are disposable tube launchers. Having a dedicated launcher that can fire a variety of warhead types would be quite useful to the infantryman, don't you think? Especially the American infantryman. Like, right now, they don't need something that can take out a heavily armored vehicle, they're mostly fighting guys in some beat up old pick up truck, they just need something that makes a big boom and kills a lot of people.
But I digress again, the town is saved, and Rick talks to his son about seeing everyone band together to fight off the zombie horde gives him hope. He thought the citizens of Alexandria were a bunch of candy-asses who had grown too soft behind their walls, but the fact that they could butcher things in a berserk fervor greatly increases his opinion of them. So, he need Carl to wake up, because he thinks now that he knows these people don't suck, they can build a lasting community. Carl hand does respond, which is where we end.
