Supergirl- Emotional ep tonight. Even though it worked out for the best, Kara was way over the line there not only secretly taking one of Cat's letters, but finishing it and sending it to her son. That's kinda insane! Also, weird stunt casting, casting Melissa Benoist's real life husband, Blake Jenner since I don't really think of him as an actor. I mean, he only got on Glee (and met her) because he won the second season of the Glee project. And it looks like he's a potential love interest for her again here.
But we also get MM's backstory, of how his family and his people were slaughtered by the White Martians. Kara convinces him not to kill the White Martian who shows up in this ep and Hank tells the girls he thinks of them as adequate replacements for his dead daughters. I don't see how killing the White Martian would've "destroyed" Jonn though. Its a freaking genocidal monster! His only mistake was handcuffing Kara with the kryptonite cuffs and drawing it all out and making it all weird! Had he just killed it in the course of their fight, I don't think anyone would have a problem with it!
Ugh, Wynn giving Kara the silent treatment? Is he serious? And weird, so I guess Maxwell Lord's project is to make a fake Supergirl? Which I thought he picked someone that looked sort of like her, to fool people from afar, I didn't expect him to make the girl actually look like Kara.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend- Aw, a sweet, but also weird episode. So Valencia finally notices Rebecca has a thing for Josh. I mean, I guess she always suspected, but I guess she saw the way Rebecca was looking at Josh as he picked popcorn out of her hair and took that as confirmation. So she invites them to the gang's beach day to mean girl her.
Which, I guess they all knew each other from when they were kids, but its the first time their dynamic seemed like that. But I digress, Rebecca gets the idea from Daryl to get a party bus for them all. Daryl actually ends up coming along, as well as Heather. Rebecca ends up feeling left out, since Josh is with Valencia, and Greg is with Heather, and heh, apparently Daryl has a bit of a man crush on White Josh since they go to the same gym.
Rebecca wants to go home after weirding everyone out with an albeit very sexy pole dance routine. But Paula refuses to help Rebecca until she admits she came to West Covina because she's in love with Josh? Which, I guess Rebecca has actually never said it aloud, Paula just read between the lines and humored Rebecca. But Paula is not having any more of it, she refuses to help Rebecca until she admits her feelings.
Which is what I find weird- so things come to a head when Valencia confronts Rebecca and all sorts of things come out. First, Josh finds out that Greg and Rebecca hooked up her first night there. Which he finds weird they kept it a secret from him. That then causes a fight between Greg and Josh, which eventually causes Valencia to get pissed because she can't understand they're fighting over a little weirdo like Rebecca.
Valencia tells Rebecca to admit she's trying to steal Josh, and it comes out that Rebecca went to Daryl for the job, he didn't offer it to her like she's always said. Valencia thinks she has Rebecca caught, but Rebecca finally confesses that when she was incredibly depressed in NYC, and then she bumped into Josh, and when he said how happy he was to be going back to West Covina and made it sound so great, and because she's kinda a nut, she impulsively decided to check it out and go there.
An explanation everyone accepts, but honestly I've always thought that was the real truth. Josh and Rebecca actually get closer because of this, because he feels all proud that he convinced someone how cool West Covina was and they do a duet of the West Covina Reprise. So in the end, Rebecca tells Paula she loved how warm Josh was and how he great he makes her feel and finally admits aloud she's in love with Josh and that's why she moved there.
But like I said, while I do think she thinks she's in love with him, she was very depressed in NY. She readily admits that. So I don't think she's in love with Josh per se, she's in love with the feelings she had when she was with Josh, because that's the last time she ever felt happy. So I think what she said on the bus was the actual truth- she was in a bad place emotionally, and bumping into Josh presented this way out to her, which is why she moved there.
