Elementary- Interesting ep, albeit a little weird. So Joan's step dad wrote that book to be closer to her? Which is fine, had he not written a chapter where his daughter sleeps with her employer. Its pretty weird!
I'll admit, I thought there was some truth to fake Mina's story at first, but then it didn't track that, knowing their daughter was dead, the parents would really take in some impostor to cover up their crime. Like if that was the case, they had to know the impostor was only there for the money, and would they really just let some random bilk them out of $5 million just to get away with murder? I mean, I guess its possible, but that's still a pretty big pay out.
Still, the set up was weird, what with all the open ended questions. Like Sherlock couldn't figure out how she found the real Mina and knew she could jump her to perform her con. The kidnapper had no idea who she was, so I guess the implication she was clever enough to figure it out and how she could profit from it? And then she seemed pretty confident she could beat the rap, and they focused on her way too long in the end. So between her stumping Sherlock and seeming like she was going to get away with murder, is she going to show back up at some point?
