TV commentary:

Fargo- Interesting ending, not the ending I was expecting, tho to be fair not sure what I was expecting. I mean, I like it because its mostly happy. Though NGL, I was legit worried when Betsy (hey, she's alive, and given she collapsed as a reaction to the drugs, she wasn't on the placebo like she thought) was talking about her dream where she saw Molly and Lou and Greta and Gus and Gus and Molly's son, and how they were all happy, but then seeing a fiery image of Hanzee and how the forces of chaos could cause this future not to be. I mean, this show had a freaking flying saucer. So its within the realm of possibility that are assumptions are wrong, and somehow Lou would die and that stuff we saw in season 1 would not come to be.

But he was safe. Indeed, the only people who ended up dead where Ed, and that one guy working with the Gearhardts. Betsy at the very least is still alive at the end of the ep, so who knows how many years she ended up having with her family. Hank also survived his wounds. So its cool they're all good.

But I do feel sad for the Blomquists. With Ed dying, Peggy realizes how much she loves him. But at the same time, Ed thinks their marriage is over and was prolly gonna divorce her had he not died. I mean, he still cared for her, but I think he realized they both wanted different things out of their marriage that were seemingly incompatible. But yeah, then it turns out Peggy imagined half the chase, thinking Hanzee was trying to smoke them out of the freezer, but that was all a hallucination. Lou's the one who's at the freezer door, and just when Peggy is happy that they're not actually in danger of being killed by Hanzee at this point, she notices her husband is dead.

Heh, and poor Mike. With all the Gearhardts dead, he lays claim to their ranch. He ends up sending away their cook with a really lucrative severance package, while killing that one guy, who in my rewatch of the previous ep I had noticed ran when the shit hit the fan. Apparently he had the same idea as Mike, heading straight to the Gearhardt compound now that its abandoned. He tries to run away with the money in the safe, but the remaining Kitchen brother shotguns him.

But yeah, since all the Gearhardts are dead, Mike takes credit for their effective defeat. He thinks he's onto bigger and better things, that he'll be a real leader in the organization now. But it turns out his promotion is a desk job. His cowboy ways aren't how things are done anymore. As he's told the real money is in whatever office shit they do in that building.

As for Hanzee, he lives, getting plastic surgery to fix his disfigured face to become Mr Tripoli from the first season. Or rather, he coincidentally gets a new identity with that same last name and is told they can totally change his face, not just fix the wound. So its possible its not the same guy. Particularly since that guy was some fat Italian guy.

But in another cool callback to season 1, we see little Wrench and Numbers, trying to play baseball and getting attacked by bullies, and Hanzee coming to their rescue. Presumably he teaches them how to be hitmen. All in all, I think it was a nice ending, but what really made the ep for me were those season 1 callbacks.
