Supergirl- Some pretty huge developments this ep! So in the "normal" side of things, Cat's CEO tries to oust her by engineering an e-mail hack scandal, but Kara and friends manage to thwart it. Cat and Kara bond during this crisis, and Cat finally figures out Kara is Supergirl! But we don't see what will come of this, because there's another crisis!
So, Astra challenges Supergirl openly, and Kara seemingly beats her. Astra pleads with her niece, trying to convince her she's trying to do the right thing- apparently on Krypton, Astra was basically an eco-terrorist. If she's to be believed, Krypton was on the verge of destruction because of the way they were harnessing energy, and the Kryptonians were taking too much. So basically its a parallel to our own ecological woes.
Coming to Earth, she feels like she can save it from destruction. The earthlings may not be pleased with her methods, but she thinks it will save the planet. Eventually, Alex figures Astra was playing possum and let her sister catch her. And indeed, Astra's capture was a distraction, so her husband Non could lead a band of aliens (it seems like they're not all Kryptonian, as we have a guy who could make copies of himself and a lady who breathes poison gas) to raid Maxwell Lord's lab.
Max actually manages to take out one of them with some fancy anti-Kryptonian gun that melts the guys face. But, he only gets one shot, because he's a mere human, and Kryptonians are way faster. But, the DEO arrives before Lord is toast. There's a big fracas, where obviously way more humans die, but Henshaw manages to kill one of them. (Or at least he seems to kill the guy, as he shot him with some sort of kryptonite beam gun that blasts right through him) Interestingly enough, Astra's people did develop special suits with energy shields that protect from Kryptonite- lucky for HH, they didn't realize he was really MM and had powers, which he used to turn off the energy shield in order to take out the aforementioned guy.
But argh, we end with Kara facing off with Non. Which, isn't Non the big dumb guy in Superman 2? Here, he doesn't seem so dumb. Also, I would think in the aftermath of this, people would be freaking the fuck out. I mean, Superman and Supergirl are one thing, particularly since they seem to be on Earth's side. And the DEO has been pretty covert capturing threatening aliens, but this seems pretty bold and open enough that they can't cover it up. So a half dozen guys, a few of whom basically are at Superman and Supergirl's power levels will prolly cause huge waves.
