Man, I'm so paranoid. So Monday, I realized I hadn't gotten my registration renewal yet. Luckily, you can get the renewal code online, so I got that, got my emissions inspected across the street, and completed the online registration renewal the same day.
Of course, I was still concerned I hadn't gotten the notice. Did someone take it? Did the postman put it in the wrong box (since they've put the wrong mail in the mailbox more than once)? Did they have the old zip in the system? I mean, the online system showed the new zip, but who knows? And truthfully, it wasn't a big deal, because its not like the tag renewal office was far away. Well, it is, but its not like its hard to get to, just basically go around the corner and head down a ways. But it doesn't get that crowded, so worst comes to worst I could prolly clear things up there if it was wrong.
But I needn't have worried, got the sticker on Friday. And heh, on Saturday got a mail saying they weren't mailing out renewal notices because there was an issue with the vendor and said they couldn't mail it out on time. So that's why I hadn't gotten anything.
Random thoughts. I heard "Under the Sea" from the Little Mermaid the other day, and there's a line there that always confused me- Sebastian was talking about how much better it was under the sea, and how fishes in the bowl would eventually get eaten if the master got bored. That crab is an effin liar! Like sure, a fish tank at a seafood restaurant, the fishes there will eventually get eaten, but that was always the case from the start! But its not like someone has an aquarium, and one day on a whim, if they're feeling hungry, might eat one of those fish. No one does that! Then again, I suppose Sebastian was misinformed. After all, they thought a fork was a freaking comb!
You know, I hadn't actually seen the video for Adele's "Hello" until this morning, and I had heard some actor from the Wire was in it, but heh, I didn't realize it was Tristan Wilds (I guess "Mack Wilds" now?). I had heard he was on the Wire, but he'll always be Annie's brother on 90210 to me.
TV commentary:
Doctor Who- Well, that was unexpected!! I had heard Clara was leaving, but I didn't know they were gonna kill her off in this ep! I thought they'd be saving that for a season finale or something. I mean, Clara's time-shadows have died on this show before, but given how long they spent on her death scene, and Rigsy making the mural to her in the abandoned Tardis (which no one will see, since doesn't it have special circuits preventing people from seeing it?), it sure seems like this is her final death.
But ooh, Me sure messed up. So basically, she's running this secret alien refugee settlement in London, and peace is kept by a quantum shade she controls. Break the rules, get chronolocked with a tattooo that counts down, and at the end the quantum shade hunts you to the end of time and space to kill you. She manipulates things to set up Rigsy (from the creepy 2d alien ep) for murder, getting him chronolocked, and then telling him to call the Doctor for help, before erasing his memory of the event.
Because the Doctor loves a mystery, he would come running. They figure out where the secret alien settlement is and learn what's happening, that Rigsy has been sentenced to death for murder. Obviously, he didn't do what they said, but its all a set up anyways. Me had made a deal with some mysterious being or beings who wanted to capture the Doctor and get his will. So the person Rigsy was purported to have murdered was alive and in stasis, and to get her out of stasis, the Doctor would have to use his Tardis key to unlock the chamber.
So, his key would be trapped, and he got a teleportation cuff got slapped on the Doctor, ready to take him away to parts unknown, untrackable by the Tardis. So the Doctor is captured, and everyone is fine. Only, Clara made a grave error. Rigsy just had a kid, and Clara didn't want to risk him getting killed, so she willingly took on the chronolock.
Only, Me never intended to let Rigsy die. She had made a deal before hand with the Shade, but with Clara taking on the chronolock, Clara changed the terms of the deal, and Me could do nothing to save her, and so, Clara dies.
They were kinda foreshadowing this, I guess. I mean, Clara has been taking crazier and crazier risks. As she says, the Doctor does it all the time, and why can't she be like him? Like they really hammer it in this ep, when Clara's hanging from the Tardis trying to map out London to find the hidden area, and the Tardis hits turbulence and she almost falls out. Only, she's not scared, she's thrilled, laughing like a mania. And Rigsy and the Doctor notice this.
Clara had been jumping into danger headlong, because of the Doctor's example. I mean, I know she wanted to save Rigsy, but willingly taking on the chronolock was kinda insane. Of course, she thought she was being clever- when they go to the settlement, Me had said Clara was under her absolute protection. So, Clara thought that would cancel out the chronolock if it did hit 0. But that's not how things worked!
Me, for her part, was devastated at how things turned out (well, as devastated as someone like her is capable of), she never meant for anyone to get hurt. The Doctor was ready to reign down hell on Me, but Clara makes him promise not to, not to soil her death like that. He won't be, but that doesn't mean he's forgiven Me. He's incredibly pissed at her, and while he's not going to seek vengeance, the Doctor's memory is long, and she had not better get in his way or give him some excuse to be able to go after her for something other than Clara's death.
