TV commentary:

TVD- Heh, I had heard spoilers for this storyline, but I didn't believe it! So we find out who Caroline's mysterious fiancee in the future is- Alaric! Heh, between this and Bonnie/Enzo, the writers must really want to be pissing off the audience. But I digress, the reason why Caroline and Alaric together becomes clear as the ep progresses.

Faux-Jo (who's name turns out to be Florence) ends up dying, because Jo's human body can't support a vampire spirit. But at least Alaric sort of gets to actually say goodbye to his wife/have her say goodbye back, so he gets a form of closure. But, Valerie figures out from the disastrous wedding video that the chanting the coven was doing was to protect Jo's unborn twins. Val does a locator spell to figure out where they are, and it leads her to... Caroline! I'm sure some people are rioting over this development. But I guess it kinda makes sense, since technically Caroline was the only female at the wedding who wasn't dying.

Anyways, Lily wants to make amends with her sons by hosting an introduction party for Julian. She even invites supposedly interesting people from neighboring towns to prove they can interact with people without slaughtering them. (Too bad they've apparently compelled some people to be living blood bags hidden at the high school)

But yeah, Stefan wants to kill Julian for what he did to Val and killing his unborn son. Damon also wants to kill Julian in order to torment their mother. But he wants to wait six months so she'll be all happy, and then kill him then to really twist the knife. So Damon tries to thwart Stefan's revenge because it interferes with his revenge, but then Stefan and Matt trick Damon and knock him out so Stefan could go after Julian unhindered.

They fight, and his mother catches him, so she has her men talk it out. Unfortunately, they quickly go back to fighting. Julian gets the upper hand, and starts kicking the crap out of them and calling them disrespectful. Which reminds the Salvatores of Giuseppe, so Lily is disgusted and holds her new beau back and sends her sons away.

Julian apologizes, and poor Lily has no idea the real reason Stefan wants to kill her bf. She thinks her sons are just pissed off at her. Well, Damon is, but Stefan does finally tell his brother about the lost baby and they bond over what a shitty father they had, and how they wish they could've been dads so they could do it right in order to spite him.

Other stuff- Julian sends Beau to find something of his Oscar apparently had. Enzo overhears this, so it looks like he and Bonnie are going to beat him to whatever that is.

The Originals- That's kinda bullshit! The Strix ambush Rebekah's witch body and cut its throat in the first five minutes. I can't believe they got rid of Maisie so quickly and lamely. Anyways, she wakes up in her vampire body and has to fight dozens of the Strix before Freya shows up astrally to help. Freya wants her little sister to run, but she's so close to finding the spell to bring back Kol and goes to retrieve it.

Too bad its a trap. The witch holding it works for Aya, and they destroy the spell to taunt Rebekah before banishing Freya back to NOLA. Aya stabs her with a special sword that works like the dagger and will put her in stasis for "a long time". Heh, between that and Papa Tunde's dagger, its like, I'm amused because I remember when the white oak ash daggers were a big deal, but apparently things that can take out the Mikaelsons grow on trees. But I digress, Rebekah is sent into torpor. However, it looks like the Trinity alliance isn't all that solid.

Aurora tells Klaus they had planned revenge centuries ago. Why? Because apparently Elijah had compelled Lucien, Tristan and Aurora to think they were their sires so Mikael would chase them instead. They spent 100 years like that until Elijah was daggered (was that when Rebekah's hunter boyrfiend jumped them?), and they basically had their identities ripped away so suddenly. They thought they were the Mikaelsons for a century, and all of a sudden they realized they weren't who they had thought they were for so long. They vowed revenge, but Lucien and Tristan's hatred caused too much strife. But they've recently put that aside for their latest plan.

Too bad Aurora's not as loyal either- she hid her own men amongst the Strix transporting the Bekster, and she steals the body, holding it over Klaus' head.

But heh, apparently the materials for the Mikaelson's downfall are all in NOLA- The Strix had sent one of their scarier members, Shen Min, "The Red Sorrow", after Hayley to "take her off the playing field". He apparently was a torturer and adviser to Ghengis Khan, and an all around scary guy BEFORE he got vamped. I'm a little annoyed they set him and Mohinder up to sound like total bad asses, and they go down like little bitches pretty quick. Well, I think Shen has a better showing. Elijah warns Hayley and Marcel to kill him immediately after they had managed to knock him out. But he quickly escapes when he comes to and is about to rip both their hearts out when Elijah arrives in time to rescue them. He interrogates the guy and finds out the Strix need Davina, but Shen kills himself rather than let Elijah continue questioning him.

Meanwhile, Lucien captures Cami and Kinney, as apparently he needs some special medallion amongst Cami's dark object collection. He forces her to find it by threatening the poor detective's life. Eventually she has no choice but to give him the real object. Though she did almost manage to escape by tricking him into getting whammied by one of the other dark objects.

After he gets what he wants, he compels Kinney to continue to pursue his case, but not put any of stuff together and eventually just become sad and embittered from his failure. Cami is upset that he's ruining the guy's life, but Lucien says she won't remember any of this anyways, once the vervain is out of her system and he compels her.

But we find out what the Trinity's plan is- they can't kill their sires obviously, but the medallion and spell creates an impenetrable field which they plan to trap the Mikaelsons behind, forever out of the way. So I guess they theoretically could be successful, and thus the MF gang would still be fine three years from now.
