Flash- Wow, talk about a rollercoaster! Heh, the open would've been worrisome if they hadn't already spoiled in the promos that they were going to get their Linda to impersonate Dr Light. Who, BTW escapes, because she uses her powers to 1) control the security system via the fiber optic lines and 2) turn invisible (which you knew was going to happen when Patty theorized she could do that with her power set) to make Cisco think she had gotten out of her cell and rush out when he opened the door. Which, does that mean she was like running around naked?
But since they have her uniform, and Linda is going crazy wanting to do something to alleviate her guilt over her boss' death by someone who looks like her, they come up with the impersonating Dr Light thing. Which to give Linda a confidence boost, Barry shows he trusts her... by revealing his true identity to her! So they have a fake battle, which is actually quite cute with their terrible acting, like did they really think they could fool Zoom with that?
Which seriously, this ep gives you some serious whiplash- light comedy with Flash and Linda, then sweet romance with Joe telling Barry not to get hung up on catching Zoom so quick and find some happiness, which involves kissing Patty. But then Zoom shows up and grabs Linda and throws her off the roof of STAR labs. I was worried they were going to fridge her, but thankfully Flash saves her.
And then he proceeds to get his ass royally kicked by Zoom. Like Barry even pulls off clever tricks which Cisco and Caitlin cheer on from the control room, like the lightning toss (which Zoom just grabs and throws back) and going in to the air to negate any speed advantage Zoom has. But Zoom ends up crippling Flash, and dragging his body first to the news place to show the city he broke Flash, and then to the police to show they're impotent. Like the police try to unload on Zoom, but he just catches their bullets.
And weird, I wonder if there's significance to the fact that Zoom caught the dart when Wells tried to snipe him, but Cisco actually does manage to tag him. Was he just so cocky since Barry was broken before him, that for some reason his reflexes were off and didn't see Cisco's dart coming? Or did something allow Cisco to be successful?
But I digress, its like, what the hell, how do you go from a seemingly light time to incredibly dark in a matter of minutes?! Joe wants to blame Wells, but Cisco actually got a vibe off him, and saw that Zoom kidnapped Wells' daughter, so he feels sorry for the guy. Possibly adoptive daughter, because he refers to her as Jesse Quick. But yeah, Wells is pissed himself, since he teamed up with Barry because he thought he could defeat Zoom with this Flash's help.
Also, I know Iris and Barry aren't a thing right now, but he's still her best friend. Like after seeing him broken like that, she wouldn't be waiting by his bedside to see him wake up? Or Joe? That's the worst shape they'd seen him in since his accident! They should be incredibly worried!
