TV commentary:
Doctor Who- Heh, interesting stuff in this ep. As expected, Kate survived. Though it was pretty anti-climactic, she just shot the Zygon? Like, did she have a hidden gun squirreled away or something?
But onto the meat and potatoes of the ep. So Clara is able to exert some control to make Bonnie miss the first shot, and delay things for the Doctor and Osgood to escape the second shot (wait, but what about the poor pilots?!). Then she secretly contacts the Doctor, who then contacts Bonnie, and drops enough breadcrumbs to make it in her best interest to preserve Clara.
Long story short, they end up in the Black Archive, with Kate at one Osgood Box, and Bonnie at the other. Both boxes have two buttons, but they don't know what the buttons do. Kate can end up destroying the all the Zygons, or she could end up setting off the nuke at the bottom of the Black Archives. Bonnie could end up "freeing" all the Zygons by forcing them into their true forms for an hour to create a mass panic that would lead to war. Or, she could cause them to get stuck as humans permanently.
The Doc gives an impassioned speech about war and never ending cycles and wot-not. Kate stands down first, but Bonnie realizes the boxes were bullshit all along and they don't do jack. But, she also stands down. Heh, Kate brings up the fact that now that they know the boxes are empty, doesn't it ruin the cease fire since that failsafe is not real, but apparently this has happened 15 times before and she's forgotten every time.
Which, sure, crisis averted, the leaders made the right decision, but what about the random extras who end up dying each time? In any case, also, its interesting he still wipes Kate's mind each time. Like, does she always make the right choice? I'm curious if she does. Maybe she doesn't, if the Doctor doesn't trust her enough to let her remember. I guess since nothing actually happens when they press the buttons, no harm no foul, their memory is wiped and the crisis is averted. Though I would think if Kate is the type of person who would press the button, the Doc would oust her out of UNIT. After all, he did cause Harriet Jones to lose her job.
He does let Bonnie remember. I guess he trusts her, since she looked like Clara at the time, and has her mannerisms. As such, he knew from looking at her that she had the "mannerisms" of Clara when she's not lying? In any case, Bonnie takes over as the second Osgood- Osgood says they'll reveal which is which when it doesn't matter anymore.
Which, I assume the Osgood we saw this ep is the human one? Because it would be weird if the whole which is which is really just two Zygons disguised as Osgood. Plus, can a Zygon copy someone who is just a zygon copying someone else?
Oh, and Clara asks how the Doctor felt when he thought she was dead. It wasn't a long time as we see on the show, but he cracks that it was the longest month of his life. Which, is it a weird joke? Because truthfully, he's a time traveler. He could've taken a break for a long time and just gotten back to the situation at hand. But I guess that doesn't really work since the phones seem to be "synced" to his personal experience of time. So he would've gotten the text whenever Clara sent it, no matter where and when he was, and it didn't take her a month to do that.
