TV commentary:
Carmilla- I guess I haven't made any posts about Carmilla Season 2, which ended this past Thursday. Argh, you know, when Tuesday's ep rolled around, I had guessed how things were going to go down and was going to be so frustrated if they went that way. But I guess they don't want to resolve everything all at once, need to keep people watching next season. You know, when they STILL hadn't realized something was up with Perry on the penultimate ep, I had a feeling they never would this season, and that next season would be them dealing with Dean!Perry. Which, is it me, or did Perry become incredibly hot playing evil?
But yeah, I had a feeling this wasn't the last we saw of Danny (though I didn't expect Dean!Perry to resurrect her as one of her minions), and Mattie being alive is also a pleasant surprise. Anyways, I thought this season was fine, though I am disgusted with the fanbase. Particularly the Danny haters. I mean, the majority of people hate her simply because she's someone else vying for Laura's affections. Some people try to claim they don't, say they just don't like her because she's all self-righteous and hot headed. But I say bull. I don't think anyone would have a problem with it if it didn't cause issues between Laura and Carm.
Like Mattie's death is not Danny's fault. Yes, she's a hot head, but combining that with Mattie's not suffering those she deems beneath her and it was a lethal combination! Yes, Danny and company jumped to a lot of conclusions, but Mattie didn't help any by being inscrutable and getting off on people being afraid of her. I mean, I get she thinks she's basically invincible, but please, do a better job of defending yourself against false accusations. I know the ginger squad can be thick headed (not to mention the Dean possessed Perry was exacerbating things), but even if they don't believe you the first time, if it were me, I'd feel way more superior actually proving them wrong, rather than trying to act all cool like it doesn't matter to me if they think I'm actually guilty or not.
Mattie and Danny's personalities just don't mix well, so it was inevitable there was going to be a clash. And I don't blame Laura for telling Danny Mattie's weakness anyways. Yes, Carmilla told Laura that in confidence, to protect herself. But its not like she's not going to not warn a good friend how to protect herself if she's faced with trouble.
And then the haters were trying to be all, "Oh, Danny over-reacted!" Yes, how dare Danny do something to prevent herself from having her spine snapped and dying! Even if you believe Mattie was just trying to break her arm, no one is going to think, "Oh, she's just breaking my arm! She'll stop with that!" and not do what they can to defend themselves. Danny is a warrior, and the adrenaline is flowing, of course she's going to strike out the only way I know how.
But yeah, just because I don't blame Danny doesn't mean I though Mattie deserved to seemingly die. Mattie was cool. It just frustrated me she didn't bring up how weird Perry was acting rather than being all, "Did I kill her? Maybe I did?" and act all nonchalant about it.
Doctor Who- Interesting observation by the Doctor. I think he's worried that Clara's becoming a little too much like him. As he said, their can't be two of him. One of them has to be the sane one holding the other back.
But heh, are you serious with the cliffhanger ending? Like why would the Doctor's "ghost" only show up after he decided to go back in time? The past is the past! The Doctor's ghost should have been there the whole time then!
