Scream- Dangit! So after seeing Will murdered so brutally, Emma's not doing so good. She has scary dreams and hallucinations, which trigger some memories. Particularly one of watching her father abandoning her and her mom from the stairs when she was a little girl. He was upset about some child, and Emma thought it was her at the time. But as people suspected, Maggie-Daisy did get knocked up from her tryst with Brandon. Apparently Emma's dad had cheated on her mom, and she was upset and Brandon took her home and was so sweet to her that they ended up doing it. After the murders, when she supposedly left to avoid the press, she actually went off to have the baby, which was given up in a closed adoption.
But argh, just when you think you'll get a clue on whether Daisy and Brandon's child is Piper or Seth (since they're the only characters on the show who are the right age), she says she didn't even know if the kid was a boy or girl!
The show very much wants you to believe its Mr Branson. Or rather Seth Palmer. Noah's research pays off, and he learns from a contact that Seth used to be a teacher at a liberal arts college, having an affair with a hot student, but then she died and he disappeared, only to show up in Lakewood with a new name. Which is pretty damning. But even more so when combined with the evidence Audrey and Noah found.
In class, Audrey and Noah think Mr Branson subtly threatened them. So they renew their efforts to find evidence that he was linked to the spyware snooping that got the dead people killed. They find a stash in his classroom, containing a knife and a cell that seems to be the one that was contacting Emma. So they show the sheriff what they found, and tell them about how the malware that was allowing Nina and Tyler to blackmail the mayor and spy on everyone was from his class website, and that he's really Seth Palmer. Also, he was "out of town" when the stuff in the bowling alley and Will's murder took place. So, the sheriff puts an APB out on him.
But ha, the thing that puts the cherry on top is that Brooke goes to see him. Earlier in the ep, she and Piper tell the sheriff about how her dad was being blackmailed, and show the sheriff the video of the mayor dumping the body. So the sheriff takes the mayor in, saying that Brooke thinks its her mother. The Mayor promises to confess, but only if he gets to talk to his daughter first. Brooke refuses, unless she gets to talk to her mom. And the mayor finally gives up a number allowing Brooke to talk to her mom and see that she's still alive.
The body her dad ended up dumping was some junkie friend of the mom, who OD-ed. I guess that's why the mom went into rehab? So he was just covering up a scandalous death, he's no murderer. It was still damning at the time, since most of the murdered victims were the blackmailers or at least saw the video.
But I digress, Brooke goes to Seth to get on top of him in order to get over everything that's happened. In the middle of their attempted liaison, Seth is all, "What's that noise?!" and runs off to check it out, leaving tiny nearly nekkid Brooke all alone. Then she gets attacked and runs, and surprise, the killer disappears and Seth reappears. He asks Brooke what's wrong, which is when the cops burst in, and him with a teenage girl with a slashed arm in nothing but her undies looks pretty bad for him, and he's immediately arrested. He tries to plead his innocence, but even Brooke seems to look like she's suspicious that the killer was never in the room as he was, him immediately appearing after she lost sight of the killer.
Since its not the end of the season, it seems like its too early for Seth to be the killer, so right now he seems very much a red herring. Guess we'll learn more next week.
