Finally- Finally!! In the B plot, since Will figures out that Jake told Brooke about the blackmail and blamed it all on him, he steals the money and evidence and arranges a meet with the mayor. Will gives Brooke's father both, hoping to make bygones be bygones. The mayor accepts and leaves, but not before making a vague threat. Little did he know that Will brought Piper there to record the transaction. However, Will and Piper get locked in and ambushed, with Will getting stabbed in the stomach and dragged off while Piper lies there helplessly unable to stop it.
Is Will dead? Not to be macabre, but I kinda hope so. I mean, so far they've killed a Latina, a lesbian, and an Asian girl. I don't count Tyler because he got almost no screen time at all before he was killed off screen. And at least Nina got some backstory. They're kinda due for a white dudebro to get offed. Jake would've been preferable (though it does seem like he's being set up as one of the potential killers, though he's most likely a red herring) But yeah, the fact that we don't actually see Will expire, he's just dragged off with a mortal wound, and the killer just leaves Piper there as a witness points to a set up.
We also learn more about Brandon James and Emma's mom. As I suspected, there was something going on there. They were neighbors, and became very good friends. Eventually, Emma's parents met in HS and started dating and were going through a rough patch. "Daisy" claims he only went there to tell her that Emma's dad wasn't good enough for her, starting a fight and sparking the killings. Emma's mom reveals she never thought Brandon was the actual killer. She went to meet Brandon to figure out what's going on. Only Maggie's father saw her and called the cops, leading to the flashback scene we saw in a previous ep, where she meets Brandon on the docks only for him to immediately get shot by the cops and fall into the water.
Finally, onto the main plot. Detective lady has a suspect in the killings... Audrey! Why? Because her DNA was found on the inside of the mask. Heh, we actually never find out why it was, but she calls Emma in a panic to go to her house and destroy a vid from the night of Nina's murder. So Emma and Noah break into Audrey's and steal it before the cops there. Which, yeah, that's not suspicious, right before the cops come in, someone broke into the house?
In any case, she begged Audrey not to watch the vid, but of course she and Noah are going to be curious. And the video is pretty damning- in it Audrey is pissed and flipping out to Rachel about how Nina has been messing with her all her life and she's not going to get away with it anymore, she's going to pay. Emma and Noah are shocked, but while Emma does think its weird that fake Brandon hasn't taunted her since Audrey was in custody, she trusts Audrey.
So, she goes to the cops and totally lies. Sort of. She does reveal Audrey was so mad she wanted Nina dead, but she couldn't have, because she was with Emma. Emma claims she went to Audrey to apologize for the vid. I guess it wasn't common knowledge that it was both Emma and Nina who made the tape, but the latter is the one who sent it out. Emma felt guilty though and went to confess. And so she says Audrey didn't say she was with Emma because Audrey was trying to protect her, so no one else would find out she was also involved with the video. So, they let Audrey go. It would be funny if Audrey actually was the killer and Emma just gave her an alibi, but I hope not.
In any case, Emma asks Audrey about it, and she tells her how she was worked up and ready to do something stupid, but Rachel had grabbed her car keys and tossed it out the window. So, in the middle of frantically searching the grass for her keys, Audrey realized how stupid and ridiculous she must seem and calmed down. And that's why she kept such a piece of seemingly incriminating evidence, to remind her of how she almost lost control and that if she's ever feeling that way again, she needs to take a breather.
