Finding Carter- Ah, I called it! But first, let's start from the beginning. We pick up from last ep where Taylor is asking about the necklace. Carter uses the opportunity to tell her she and Max slept together. Taylor is devastated. Sidebar: I'm a little confused where this takes place. Like last ep, I coulda sworn it was still at the lake house. So when after the opening credits they took their discussion into the living room, I was all, did they pause their convo and just start it back up when they got home? Did they magically teleport from the lake house home? I guess the lake house wouldn't have a garage, so I guess they just did a weird cut last ep where they were getting ready to leave the lake house, and when they had the shot of Taylor checking out the back of Max's pickup, they had already gotten home? Then again, why would Max park in the Wilson's garage? I'm so confused!
But I digress. Taylor feels betrayed. Tho to be fair, if we're going to bring up the sister code of not dating each other's exes, technically Taylor broke it first since Carter and Max were something back in the day. But since that was over and done, Carter was totally cool with it. And Max and Taylor were technically broken up at the time, and she had been screwing around with Ofe. So while I can understand why it feels like a betrayal to her, its not as big a betrayal as if she and Max were together.
As Max and Carter explain, she was devastated by Lori trying to kill herself and saying her whole childhood was a mistake. And even though Lori was a psycho kidnapper, Carter still had fond memories of her childhood. So she was in a bad place and she and Max fell into an old habit, one they hadn't done or even thought about in a whole while. He went to comfort her, and they fell into bed together. Taylor still can't stand it.
So obviously things are incredibly awkward between the three of them. Too bad David and Liz decided to get back together. And SAT scores are being released! So, they excitedly tell their daughters they should check their scores out! Liz notices some awkwardness, but the girls play it off. Anyways, Taylor got a 2300, and Carter has a 1600. Which is okay, and she can take it again as well!
Again, since the parentals are all high on getting back together and blissfully unaware of all the awkwardness, they're all, "We planned a celebration dinner! Max, you have to come! Oh, btw, we invited Crash too!" So yeah, Crash is back, and he's cleaned up well. Like so much so that you'd hardly remember the Wilsons used to think he was trash and wanted their daughter to have nothing to do with him.
Anyways, before dinner, Liz breaks up with Kyle face to face, because he deserves that. But ha, she wanted to break up with him before dinner because she had originally invited him and Gabe, but since she and David were getting back together it would be super awkward. Well, even more awkward than it ended up being! But heh, poor Gabe, he misses out on a dinner at the Italian Oven!
So he and his dad order in Chinese, and as I said last week, with the previews of Liv sadly hovering over someone who was shot, I had guessed it would either be Crash or Kyle. Kyle being all proud of his son and sharing a moment, when we hardly see these characters at all (what happened to the counselor he was banging?), it was basically a death sentence.
At the Italian Oven, things are a bit chilly between Taylor and Carter and Max and Taylor is even more mad when Crash shows up and her sister being all lovey-dovey with him, so when Max tries to make a toast to Taylor with a hidden apology, she can't take it anymore!
She ends up going to use the ladies room, and on the way back, bumps into Crash and tells him about Max and Carter before Carter could. So now she thinks they're even.
Crash is upset, and says he needs space. So Carter gives it to him. Too bad his Uncle Shay is hiding in his motel room. He says he's grabbing Crash (he won't kill him since he's his sister's kid) and making him go AWOL so he has to stick with him lest he go to jail. He at least allows his nephew to call Carter to say goodbye.
Carter thinks he's leaving because he's mad over her sleeping with Max, so she goes to see him. Taylor for her part feels incredibly bad when she thinks she may have destroyed her sister's relationship for good. Since Grant is at Charlie's house (wait, who the hell is Charlie?) and Carter is trying to get to Crash, the Wilsons have no choice but to break the good news to the only one of their kids left in the house, Taylor.
Ha, and the fact that her parents are getting back together after everything that's happened causes Taylor to forgive Max. I'm not sure if they're back together, but at the very least their friends again.
Anyways, Carter gets to the motel and quickly figures out Crash got kidnapped by his uncle and tells her mom. Kyle and Liz are on the case, and she sends her daughter home. Taylor apologizes to her sister, and says she feels guilty about telling Crash, worrying that he's in this situation because of her. Carter re-assures her Shay was following him, so he would've grabbed Crash eventually. So yeah, thankfully it seems like things are cool between the Wilson sisters and Max, I would've been annoyed if they dragged it out.
Kyle and Liz track Shay down, but before they do they have a discussion about their breakup. Kyle is transferring and Liz tries to get him to forgive her, telling him she really did care for him. But Kyle doesn't want to make it easy for Liz, because he's hurting because he's still in love with her.
They finally get to Crash and his uncle, and there's a shootout. Shay almost gets the jump on Liz, but Kyle saves her, taking a bullet under his vest doing so. She and Crash try to stabilize Kyle, but in the end, he dies in the hospital.
This will prolly have repercussions for David and Liz's reunion. And I'm sure the blame game will be played. Wonder if Gabe will blame Crash for his father's death. Will Crash blame himself? Guess we'll have to see next week!
