TV commentary:
Daredevil- Just caught the first two eps, and its pretty good so far. Heh, one thing I was amused by where the subtle references to the rest of the MCU. Its not clunky or overt, just stuff that would actually be germane to the conversations. I mean, Agents of SHIELD, they'll reference the attempted HYDRA take-over, and Triskellion attack, but I forget that's a world where NYC was invaded by freaking aliens. Like when they were talking about property values when looking for their law offices, it took me a second to realize, "Oh yeah, because NYC got pretty messed up a few years ago". And they made the reference without outright saying, "Hey, remember that time NYC was attacked by aliens, that was pretty crazy!"
And since we're dealing with the "street level" of the MCU, a lot of the crazy stuff going on in Agents of SHIELD or the movies doesn't really matter. But I like how they can reference that stuff is taking place, again with a simple line about how there's "more of these guys everyday", without having to name drop or make overt references.
Random stuff- interesting, so Matt's dads final fight was against Crusher Creel, the Absorbing Man. (Oh, heh, that actually was a bout in the comics) Ooh, and heh, I'm amused by the switcheroo. I knew Jessica from True Blood was playing Karen Page, but I'm amused the second ep had her hanging out with Foggy while Matt's starting to make eyes at this Claire chick. But hey, now he has a street doc to patch him up.
Which again, since this is street level, even though Matt has the fancy senses, this is also early in his career. Even though he's a martial arts bad-ass in the comics, the setting of the show, you're not as confident that he'll win. Like these are long, drag out fights, its not like AoS where you know May or Bobbi will just trash people foolish enough to fight them. What would take them a few seconds to do, it takes Matt a few minutes, and that's fine.
