TV commentary:
OUAT- Holy cow! So, we find out what the Charmings did to the Queens of Darkness (or rather, Maleficent)! And I guess they answered my question from last week, I was remembering right, Regina stole the dark curse from Maleficent. So I guess somehow she got it from Rumpel sometime after last week's ep? But yeah, in the enchanted past, the QoD go the the Charmings for help in avoiding the curse.
They tell the Charmings about a Tree of Wisdom in the forest they can ask for a way to avoid the curse. The QoD can't do it because the tree will only talk to valiant heroes. So the five of them make the trek, though the Charmings ditch them after Maleficent turned into a dragon and killed some guards who wouldn't let them cross a bridge.
But when they get to the tree, and David and Snow ask it a question, it blows them back. The QoD catch up and think maybe the Charmings aren't so valiant after all. Eventually Maleficent figures it out- Snow is preggers. And while Emma is the product of true love, she may have potential for great good, she also has the potential for evil. So, with the tree close to them, they'll need to figure out some other way to stop the curse. (heh, spoiler alert, we know they don't!)
Anyways, Maleficent visits Snow in secret later, confessing she too is also pregnant, and asking to team up to stop the curse to protect their unborn children. But, Snow is all, she's a villain, and she won't compromise her principles by stooping to work with a villain. Which, yeah, Maleficent slaughtered a couple of random guards earlier, but its not like Maleficent was all, "I have this evil plan to stop the curse!" They had no plan yet, shouldn't she wait to be all, "You're evil! I'll never work with you!" until Maleficent actually suggested something evil? Like what if they figured out a plan that wasn't evil that Maleficent could help with?
In the present, Cruella and Ursula visit Gold's shop, distracting Belle while they steal a box with an item of Maleficent's, a tiny broken silver dragon hand clutching a jewel. David was staking them out, and eventually pulls them over, finding the box, stealing the item. He secretly takes it to his wife all, they wanted an item of Maleficent to resurrect her. So, they decide to go under the town to scoop up Maleficent's remains.
But it was all a ruse! The Queens purposely let David find it so he and Snow would go down to the remains (the audience should've been suspicious since Gold was already at the remains earlier in the ep, so obviously if they needed those remains, they could've gotten them already) Ursula knocked them out, and they slice David and Snow's hands to get blood, which they sprinkle onto Maleficent's ashes to resurrect her.
So, the Queens are three strong now. The Charmings think they need to tell their daughter the truth, but when they get to the station, they spy a convo between her and Hook, how she thought her parents might've been lying earlier, but that's crazy, they would never lie to her. Which cause the two morons to keep mum on whatever secret they have. Yeah, that's not going to totally backfire on them later.
Heh, particularly with Snow secretly sending Regina undercover with the Queens to suss out their plan. She tells Regina her secret (sort of). But we the audience kinda see it coming- Maleficent takes the broken piece of jewelry and puts it back together, and we find out what it really is- a rattle, which she shakes, her eyes red with tears. Indeed, Snow admits, she and David went to great lengths to ensure Emma stayed good, which somehow caused Maleficent to lose her baby.
So, what exactly did the Charmings do?!
Other shockers- Belle is with... the Knave?! What the frick?! Really need to know what happened with him and Anastasia. Oh, and Team Cobra go to Geppetto to talk to Pinocchio/August to see if he knows anything that can help with the Author since August was able to unbind the book and insert a page from earlier. Heh, its still incredibly creepy to have Emma and him interact. Its like, didn't she sleep with him when he was an adult? And now he's just a child.
In any case, Geppetto gets mad at Regina being all mean trying to get answers and throws them out. But, Regina apologizes later, which seems to soften him towards her, he gives her the saddlebags from his son's motorcycle. And while Regina is off with her secret meeting with Snow, Henry finds a clue- a picture of a door, with a handwritten note by August with the words, "The Author?"
