Hart of Dixie- Heh, they really are trying to resolve everything since its the last season and all! I'm glad they stopped dragging out the Lavon/Lemon storyline. Before the title card, Lemon literally says, "screw it" and just gets back with Lavon. Wait, was Brick totally unaware this whole time there was something going on between Lavon and his daughter? That seems kinda insane! Like did he think her engagement to George broke up because Zoe is some harlot who stole George away at the time, not realizing there was cheating going on both sides? Ah'm skeptical!
But yeah, with AB with George, and Lemon and Lavon together, the conflict has now moved to Zoe and Lemon arguing over sharing Lavon. I mean, they hadn't really interacted in the longest time, and if they did their interactions were curt. So it was amusing to go back to this, but I guess they had to if they're trying to resolve everything before the finale.
I did like the whole thing with Zoe and not having any heirloom or legacy for her kid, because her mom's not sentimental, and she didn't know Harlan and his family didn't know about her, so they gave all his stuff away. I like they finally had her upset over her birth father's death. Like I don't recall her ever really being sad about it back in the first season, because he was a virtual stranger. So it was nice to see it actually did affect her, with her feeling bad that she basically blew him off at her graduation all, "Who is this rando?" and she never got to know him, and her kid has no real family connections.
Which, doesn't she still have all those other Wilkes relatives? And Wade still has his dad? And her mom is still around, albeit in NYC. So its not like the kid would be deprived of any family!
In any case, Lemon feels sorry for her and offers to tell her stories about her dad since she actually knew him growing up.
Heh, and the George storyline was shades of Jim Carrey's commencement speech recently- George was afraid his parents would be upset at him starting to become a music manager, but his dad was recently forced into early retirement. Like Carrey's speech, he worked hard for 40 years, and things still didn't work out. So, George's parents are cool with him doing what works for him.
I'm also amused Mckayla Maroney still shows up on this from time to time. Like, it started as a cameo, because she was this Olympian, but her character is still around. If kinda feel bad for that other teammate of hers, who was a Vampire Diaries fan, and got a cameo role on TVD that same year. But she didn't even have a line, she's like there and gone. She actually wanted to be on a show, and nothing came of it, and Meh-kayla couldn't have been like a fan because this show had just started up, and yet she became a recurring character.
12 Monkeys- Well, sure you knew that wasn't the case. Cole's alive, but the show gets all tricksy, and he accidentally splintered to 2017, where the epidemic is in full effect. Not that Cassie didn't go look for him. She had to know if he was just dead, or was gone, because if there was no trace of him, then maybe they got it. Which, I get needing something to hold on to in a case like that, to convince herself thinks will work out instead of being in constant fear, but I'm not sure if his body not being there means anything. Since there's no trace of him, she thinks everything's fine. Though the show made you think her scenes and Coles were concurrent instead of 2 years apart, only revealing in the end they're in separate times.
But yeah, there could've been plenty of reasons he was gone. The government could've just plain lied and grabbed him in secret. One of the shady organizations she's encountered like the 12 Monkeys or Goines' company could've also done that. Maybe they pulled him out just in time, and she just hasn't seen him yet. Remember, two years freaking pass between their first and second meetings. Or they pulled him out too late and accidentally brought back his corpse- so he can't come back because he's dead, but the epidemic is still coming.
What was the significance of showing her watch face. I can't remember, should it be scratched, and it wasn't? Or vice versa?
We also find out more about Jones' past. When the reactor starts to fail, so they can't pull Cole back, she tells Whitley they need to get the spare? Where? Their old base, where there's a different project going, super computers crunching numbers, figuring out how to cure the virus and deal with all mutations. Jones and her people think its impossible, and that those people are wasting their time.
So, what happened between her and this other group? Turns out, one of the generals there, played by Xander Berkley, his wife died while they were searching for a plague cure. I guess he thought the other generals weren't doing things right and there was too much infighting preventing progress. So, he executed the other leaders. But, he left Jones alone, a fact she tries to use later.
Coincidentally, the mysterious Elena of Ramsey's that Cole mentioned a few eps ago, is also there. She ended up randomly wandering here and becoming a lab tech. Also, she was preggers with Ramsey's child when they separated, not that he knew. So, he meets his five year old son.
Which is where I thought he'd start wavering on the change time plan. It was fine when he had nothing, but wouldn't he feel weird uncreating his child he made with the woman he loves whom he thought was gone. Now that he has a lost love back and a kid, you'd think he'd change his mind. I guess there hasn't been enough time for it to all settle in yet. Like, he still wants to pull Cole back, and while he was adamant no cure was possible in the beginning, even he was starting to go, "What if?" during the meeting near the end on what to do.
Jones does everything to get Xander Berkley to give her his generator. She tells him he wouldn't have spared her that day if he didn't think her plan had some merit. And while he was skeptical because he had only been aware of her failures, she tries to show him she had been successful. Apparently, at some point, she had Cole retrieve wedding photos of the guy and his wife from Atlanta in the past, before they were destroyed in a fire.
But he won't be swayed. He is sure his way is right, and those photos are just a fantasy, a reminder of something they can't get back, that will distract him from his end goal. And so he burns the pictures. Jones is also adamant her way is the only way, so she secretly takes Whitley aside later, saying if the general won't give her the generator, they're going to have to take it.
Which prolly won't sit well with him, since his father is head of security there. Or Ramsey, since he has people he cares about there that could be endangered if they try to steal the generator.

Date: 2015-03-07 06:03 pm (UTC)But yeah, they're prolly canceled, like you said, everything else has basically been renewed. The CW had a solid season (for the CW), so there aren't as many programming holes as there were the previous couple of years. I think their lowest rated shows besides HoD are the 100 and Jane the Virgin, but even those seem to be getting critically acclaimed, and thus aren't going anywhere.
