TV commentary:

Agents of SHIELD- Hmm, was it a carefully constructed plan, or a spur of the moment thing given the situation? So, Ward has an old brother Senator (played by Peter from White Collar) who claims Ward was lying the whole time about his older brother making him abuse his younger brother. Both brothers tell the Skye and Coulson that the other is a master manipulator.

And indeed, it does seem the older Ward is willing to put his brother on trial for treason and execute him for political capital. But Ward escapes during the transfer before that can happen. So, did he escape because now he's up for execution, as opposed to be stuck in a cell but getting to talk to the girl he likes? Or were one brother or both setting up a narrative that would cause Coulson to turn over Ward to his brother so he could escape?

But ha, casting Bobby Cobb as some guy with the alien writing tattoo-ed all over his body is kinda hilarious.

Person of Interest- Some people seem to dislike these kinda eps. Like I get Samaritan is the big threat, but this show has always been about the double threat of the government conspiracy/terrorism type stuff, and the NY criminal underworld. The whole point of the team was that they were getting the "irrelevant" stuff, possible deaths due to normal criminal activity, with Northern Lights dealing with terror threats.

So these crime wars (with HR gone, I guess the new thing is going to be Elias vs Dominic?) up the ante. If it was them just on the run from Samaritan and fighting them, I think it would actually be kinda easier. Nothing to worry about but surviving and taking it down. But they have to balance trying to protect innocents, even if that work could get them on Samaritan's radar. Plus, it gives them a whole other danger to worry about, because its another organization that's a legitimate threat at taking them out.

Like they can't just be all, "Eh, what's a bigger threat than Samaritan?" when they could always just get killed by some "street thugs". After all, that's what happened to Carter. She wasn't killed over any of this AI stuff, she got killed by a bunch of crooked cops.

Besides, I like Elias- he's a criminal, but he's all about control and balance. Just enough criminal activity to not boil into war or cause a crackdown or anything else that would just get a bunch of people killed. And he's smart enough to watch Team Machine, knowing that when they're involved, it most likely means the city is at the edge of a cliff, so he knows there's an event or group to look out for that could threaten his balance.

Anyways, pretty neat trick there with Finch in Hong Kong. I mean, I knew the investor for the one lady was going to be Decima. But the way it was playing out, I thought she was just someone Finch randomly met and might like, and she would coincidentally be connected with Samaritan. But nope, it turns out he was playing her the whole time, setting her up to be robbed temporarily so he could install spyware on her laptop and also kinda look like the hero so she would be in to him and be all, "let's bump into each other in NY in a couple of weeks". Heh, I was wondering why he was being all interested in another chick when he has Grace out there somewhere. But now it makes sense.
