The Leftovers- Only now got around to watching the season finale. Its such a heavy show I needed time to prepare myself for what I assumed would be a heavy finale, and I got caught up in WO3U, so it took me a while to finally check it out. Interesting finale though! So Kevin calls Jamison, who actually tells Kevin they should cover it up. So they bury Patti in the woods. He has a weird dream where the reverend turned him in to the mental institution. He has a convo with his dad who tells him he needs to be here and then has a weird sex convo with Patti before waking back up in the car.
He and the reverend talk and we learn why Kevin's messed up from all this. So, from the last ep, we could sense he was thinking of leaving. But since the Garveys were all fine (and he's unaware of Laurie's disappeared baby), he was happy and more than anything wanted his family now. And then as we saw, everything fell apart with them over the last three years. Its a little funny, because his story kinda parallels Nora's just in a different fashion. Nora just wanted some peace and quiet for a second, and now she has all the time in the world away from her family, so I think she regrets that thought, because its like she wished them away. Kevin also wanted out, but unlike Nora, his family wasn't taken. And so he changed his mind, but like Nora, he seemed to pay for wanting to leave his family, as while his wife and kids weren't physically gone, the family just fell apart.
Randomly, he goes to the bathroom, and finds freaking Holy Wayne there, dying from a gunshot wound in the gut. Wayne admits he might be a fraud, but wants to go where people go when they die thinking he really helped someone. So he tells Kevin to think of a wish (and you had to know he was wishing for his family back given his previous conversation) and Wayne grants it. And then he dies. Kevin only has a few seconds to process before a SWAT team comes in and cuffs him and dead Wayne.
But, since its clear he had nothing to do with Wayne, and the Reverend is all, "this man is innocent, I'm a reverend and he's a police chief!", the cops let him go immediately. So, they return to Mableton to find the town in the middle of a riot. Because of that stunt the GR did with the real dolls, the town totally went bonkers and lynched the whole lot of them.
I mean, Jill and Laurie survive. But hilariously, I know Kevin ran in the burning house specifically to rescue Jill. Its just messed up that he just left all those other dying people be as soon as he saw they were not his daughter. But yeah, so they're momentarily reunited. But then Laurie walks away. She randomly runs into Tom, who had been abandoned that one girl, who also left the baby with him. But he is without baby when he sees his mom, having abandoned the baby on the Garvey doorstep.
Amusingly enough, this whole ordeal had motivated Nora to run away. And she was about to leave a goodbye letter to Kevin on his doorstep when she finds the baby. So she's holding the baby when Kevin and Jill show up with a now friendly dog, saying "look what I found!" So it looks like he has a brand new family unit!
Graceland- Holy cow, I did not expect the season to end that way! What the frick, Paige? Things are bad all around. Johnny tries to take the money back, having revealed to Lucia he's a fed. He tells her he really loves her and throwing her dad and brother in jail is the only way they can be free. She agrees. But it turns out Sid revealed to Carlito that Johnny's a fed. And basically he blackmails Johnny into running those planes for real, or he'll kill his own sister.
We find out what Sid need the gun for. He uses it to kill Salano, and his own team (Briggs managed to escape the bloodbath since Mike told him about Charlie being missing and Briggs just grabbed the car and went back to LA to rescue her), then shoot himself, making it seem like Mike went rogue and killed everyone.
Mike was wounded by one of the guards, and has to run. He calls Briggs for help, who sends Paige with a fake ID so Mike can get checked into a hospital. Mike actually did a convincing job with the letter, that Jakes was able to vet it so well (Mike even had Lina's fingerprint on the stamp!) that Jakes thought Paige was being paranoid, and finally convinced her she was wrong, that she should choose the scenario that her friend isn't a lying liar and stop making herself crazy. Unfortunately, delirious Mike fesses up to burning Lina's body. So, she freaking goes to Sid and tells him where Mike is and to finish him off!
And he seemingly does! Part of me is hoping its a ruse, because what the shit Paige, I get being mad, and I expect that kinda behavior from Briggs, but she was supposed to be one of the more honorable ones in the house. But I think he might actually be dead! It sets up Sid as the big bad of next season (or the first major bad they'll have to deal with), since they are unaware that Graceland got burned, since Mike never told anyone that Sid had Mike's gun because he was in their house and stole it and saw who they all were.
