TV commentary:
Finding Carter- Got through the second ep. Look, I get Carter's life was turned upside down, who she thought was her real mother is on the run, and she's stuck with a virtual stranger. But wow, how self-centered do you have to be to not see the knife she's constantly sticking in poor Lizzie's heart? I get she's cold and overprotective, but can you blame her?! I just want someone to sit Carter down and set her straight for the brat she's being. Like missing that Family Therapy session in the beginning of the ep, where Lizzie reveals that she knows Carter has that go bag in her room, ready to run off with Lori if she has the chance, and it would literally kill her if she came home and saw Carter was gone again. Which Carter is unaware of, because she skipped the session!
And then her new friends play that prank to make the cops think she's meeting with her mom (and Lizzie goes home to find the go bag missing, not noticing Carter is in the other room with her husband, so distraught she is) and tape it. Its like that Simpsons where Bart is all, "Oh, and here's the exact point you see his heart break!" only Carter is Bart instead of Lisa, finding the whole thing hilarious. And Max is all, what the shit? But I guess Carter does manage to eke out a decent excuse- she loves Lori, and to her Lizzie is out to either kill or put Lori away for 20 years. She's paranoid that Lizzie could care less about and her and more about "beating" Lori. Its like, she already has Carter physically, she can't see why Lizzie can't let it go and assumes Lizzie is out to "win" the place as Carter's mom.
At least Max tells her all Lizzie could talk about in the interview was Carter, not trying to find Lori. Max is all, why don't you tell them that, and Carter is all, "How?!" Maybe at the therapy sessions you've been missing, brat?! But wow, she is rich! The therapy session, its obvious Taylor is jealous and Grant feels invisible, and Carter feels like she's under a microscope. So when Lizzie is all, "Its shocking to hear we're terrible parents!" Carter says "No, just you!" to her face! Jesus! I mean, again, I know she has this irrational hatred of Lizzie because she feels she's hunting Lori, but wow.
And Carter extolls the virtues of David, and Lizzie rightfully says, she hardly knows David, and she knows how her husband works. Now, given the money issues secretly going on, its obvious David has no intention of not writing that book, so you can already see he's kinda being shady here acting like he's so great when he has a secret agenda!
But since Carter missed the session where Lizzie talks about how devastated she was and is scared she'll have to go through that again, I'm glad Grant let her know. Its like, you're not the only one with feelings, you selfish little brat! She claims she doesn't know what she'd do if Lori came back, but Grant sees through her bullshit, she'd leave them in a heartbeat, despite knowing what it would do to them. And then, when its obvious Grant is going to admit he hid her backpack, Carter flips out and thinks Elizabeth did it.
Then she gets high, kisses Gabe in front of Taylor, and Taylor is all, I liked you better when I thought you were dead. Which is her cue to then OD, its like geez, Taylor already has to deal with being the "frumpy" sister, way to guilt trip her for wishing her sister dead! And again, David gets to be the fun parent, joking she was in a coma for 3 years when she finally wakes up. Then at the end of the ep, he shows what a scumbag he really is, secretly meeting with his agent about the sample chapter he wrote. And how the video from the mall, and now the slight coma thing is sure to have everyone eating this new book up. And the scum baggiest thing he's done- he's been taping their therapy sessions to use for the book. Well, at least he has the decency to look kinda guilty for a second there.
But at least Elizabeth has learned to just give her space, giving Carter a stuffed elephant (like the elephant Carter feels like). And while she appreciates it, she can't even hold it? What the shit! I'm sorry, as I've said before, I get that Carter's life has been turned upside down, but I'm fully on poor Lizzie side hear. She's suffering like crazy, and Carter is being a petulant brat, doing all sorts of cruel things to her, a woman who for the past decade thought her daughter was dead!
At least Grant has a chance to tell Carter he hid the bag- he doesn't want her to leave, but he realizes it made her crazy enough to do drugs and almost die, and he doesn't want to lose her that way either. So, instead he puts a burner phone in there, so if she does go, they can talk. And again, I get that she loves Lori, but seriously how can she carry on like she is, knowing what she's doing to her real family?
