Justified- Huh, what was the point of all that if that's where they went with that character. They seemed to be building up to something with Ava, but then in the last act, she's free. I mean, he spying on Boyd for the Marshalls is fine and all, and I suppose this arc was just like her journey of how she got to the point where she'd betray Boyd, because she was totally screwed and as good as dead if she didn't do something like that to get out of jail. But still, it does kinda seem to nullify everything that happened to her for most of this season.
But all the other loose ends are wrapped up and the threads for next season in place. Wendy tricks a confession out of Darryl, and then Raylan just sits there and watches as she kills her brother in "self defense". I mean, he did come after her, but Raylan was there with his gun drawn the whole time, so its still a shady situation. So Kendal's off the hook and they're out of there.
Boyd gets captured by the Mexicans, who kill that one henchman, but he manages to get word to Raylan. Tim and Rachel show up and confront the Mexicans- the Marshalls basically tell them to give up their guns and surrender, or else they're dead, but the cartel guys decide to shoot it out and Tim and Rachel kill two while Boyd manages to get the guns off one of those dead guys and kill the last.
Rachel's kinda irked that he kinda lead them into an ambush, so now its her life's mission to take Boyd down. Oh, and Art wakes up and tells Raylan he had actually approved a transfer back to Florida before he was shot, he just didn't get a chance to tell him because he was shot and all. So Raylan's happy to be closer to his daughter. But! Vasquez and Rachel don't want Raylan to go just yet- they want his help in taking down Boyd first, which Raylan is happy to do.
Its actually hilarious when they're bring it up, they bring all the old cases up, all, "And you know who's at the center of it, right?" And Raylan thinks they're going to say he is, like they're chewing him out for always having trouble around him, so he's shocked when they name Boyd as the common factor and ask Raylan to bring him down.
Speaking of Boyd, he gives the remaining H to Duffy and Mrs. Hale, and he acts like its over. Well, he says he's "laying low", but this is the cartel we're talking about, like I would think he would take further steps than living in his wife's house out in the woods, which he can be traced to. I mean, won't the cartel send more guys? But they seem to act like that's done with, because Mrs. Hale and Duffy give Boyd an offer- he sucks at being a drug kingpin, but he was always good at robbing banks, and offer him a mysterious job we'll have to wait next season to learn about.
The Following- Clever trick. Gluing the masks to the hostages faces and then attacking from the crowd in the hopes Mike and Ryan would slaughter a bunch of innocents. It prolly would've gone better if it wasn't just the one guy though. And heh, I know Ryan was concerned for the welfare of the preacher's son and had to run after them, but its still insane that he left Mike there alone. Its like, you're going to leave him with a dozen or so people that he doesn't know if they're killers or innocent? He totally could've been killed if he wasn't a main character.
But yeah, Ryan follows them alone, because Claire got Ryan all worked up, telling him he only way to end all this for good is to personally kill Joe. Well, she wanted to be with him when he did, but he's still trying to protect her.
But ha, Carrie and Claire find out about each other, so that's prolly an awkward conversation coming up!
I'm shocked they killed Mandy though! Like they wanted to use her as bait to draw out Joe, and he refused, so it kinda makes sense they'd kill her since they no longer have a use for her. But I figured they were going to keep her alive just in case, and that Joe would somehow pull of a rescue. But nope, she's killed, and off screen too, because they have her body propped up while they do that creepy thing where they hang out with corpses but act like they're alive.
