Continuum- Things have gotten more clear, but also more crazy. I get its best to start with the "future". So the freelancers take Kira back to the future and explain their whole deal. After the mess during 2077 and the time travel cat getting out of the bag, criminals started using time travel for nefarious ends. As such, the freelancers were created- they're basically time cops. If I'm understanding the boss lady right, they're not people from the future who go to the past to police it, one of the freelancers went a thousand or so years back in time and established the group. Actually, its kinda confusing, because obviously some of their people travel to the past. Maybe its that instead of sending people from the future to muck around, they use agents from the present to do most of the stuff in that time, only doing time travel when necessary?

In any case, since Alec went back in time, it screwed up the future that Kiera's from. Apparently, there's a level of importance associated with time travel- like a thousand nobodies could end up dying, but in the scheme of things, the universe is fine. But someone like Alec does something, its too radical a change. I guess its like Matthew's grandmother dying and him never being born, the future Kiera comes from isn't hugely affected. But Alec going back in time apparently prevents Alec from becoming this great creator and rich corporate dude, which creates a timeline radically different enough that its a totally different set of branches on the tree of time. So basically, their future is being erased.

Kiera is, "Whatever freaks!" and thinks they're crazy. As they take her back to her cell, she sees Garza in the hall, and they quickly make a plan to take out their guards and escape. Alas, they don't make it too far. Garza kills a few, and she actually volunteers to draw them away so Keira can bring some cops. But she's quickly taken out and Kiera is captured. At this point, their world is physically being torn apart by a storm, so Kiera has no choice but to believe. So boss Lady makes Keira one of them and tells her to fix the timeline, sending her back into the past.

So, she goes back in time, still at their secret base. She frees Garza (getting her to listen to her by telling a story Garza told her while they were running) and then goes to the boss lady and tells them she was sent by them to fix the timeline that was fractured because of the two Alecs. Now she just has to decide which is the wrong one. Which, I would think the "future" Alec is the one that messes things up and thus must be dealt with, since the timeline was just fine before he looped back on himself. But I guess maybe its because future Alec messed with the timeline, his old self might have been diverted from his original path, and only future Alec can right it?

But yeah, back to the present. Well, a week before last season's finale, which I guess is the new present. Alec finds his son, tells him the deal about being from 1 week in the future, then bumps into Emily and says he wants to run away together. She's about to confess what she did before, but he's all, it doesn't matter, they're cool. He also bumps into Kellogg, and changes things so Travis never gets the suit. He doesn't outright say he's from the future, but I wasn't sure if he dropped enough breadcrumbs that Matthew figured it out.

Because he has the meeting with Escher at the museum, the whole, "not stepping on each other" conversation. Only this time, he has Emily shoot Escher. Or I don't know if he had her do it, or if he knew she was going to do it. Maybe he pieced things together, heard Alec wanted to run away, and got a hold of Emily and told her this was her way out. Or maybe he didn't even contact her, since he knew Alec was wanting to run away, and let's not forget he knew she was a spy, so maybe since he knew they were running away, that this was going to be her course of action? Nah, he's not that prescient- because he outright knew Escher was going to be shot where he saw, he couldn't know that exactly unless they were working together. So all in all, its confusing what "present" Kellogg and Emily know.

But yeah, Alec goes back to his lab to get some more running away money and supplies, and finds a dead Kiera!! He is pretty broken up about it, upset that his attempt to save Emily got her killed. But! Timecop Kiera shows up behind him, and the ep ends with them staring at each other. What does that mean? Did Kiera coldly kill herself to fix the whole two hers being back there? Did one of the other freelancers do it? Or with Alec changing the timeline, did that get her old self killed? On the one hand, it would be disturbing if Kiera was involved with her own self's death. On the other, you'd think she'd be less calm about finding herself dead like this if it was indeed someone else who did it.
