Sherlock- Very interesting. Heh, so Sherlock's dating that Janine chick from the wedding. But its only a ruse to get to this ep's big bad, some newspaper mogul blackmailer named Magnusson. He has something on everyone, and as such exerts a great deal of control over the free world, lest he release certain people's darkest secrets. As such, people like Mycroft tolerate him.
Which leads us to one of this ep's big twists- Mary is an assassin! But its not like she had some nefarious machinations against the boys. She also happened to be after Magnusson, which is why she had also befriended Janine. So basically Sherlock discovers this by blundering into her attempted murder of Magnusson as he was trying to recover blackmail material for some government lady.
In any case, she ends up shooting Sherlock. But she's a trained killer, if she wanted him dead, he'd be dead. So he survives, and the boys get everything straightened out with her. They forgive her, and Sherlock decides to go after Magnusson. John is a pressure point for Sherlock, and Mary is a pressure point for John. As such Sherlock will fight to save Mary.
He concocts as a scheme, but miscalculates as Magnusson's records are all in his head. But this itself is a miscalculation by Magnusson. He gets cocky, since he knows Mary's enemies, and threatens to reveal her whereabouts to them if the boys don't play nice, going on to taunt John. Magnusson doesn't read the writing on the wall when Sherlock is all, "Oh, so all your records are in your head, there's no copies anywhere?", not expecting Sherlock to grab John's gun and blow his brains out.
So the only way Mycroft can think of to save Sherlock is to exile him. Well, sends him on a secret mission to Eastern Europe, which he had told Sherlock earlier would get him killed in six months. So Sherlock says goodbye to the Watsons, forever, telling Mary to take care of John. Lucky for Sherlock, his exile lasts all of four minutes, since Moriarty pulls a stunt (or someone we're to think is Moriarty), so his brother call him back on the case.
Interesting, is Moriarty still alive? I mean, we saw him blow his brains out. But we also saw Sherlock fall to his death, so who knows. And who is this mysterious third brother Mycroft alluded to?
Other things, so John likes danger, and sociopaths? Which is why he was friends with Sherlock, and why it worked out with Mary, because he could sense she was actually more dangerous than she seemed? And is that druggie protege, I didn't catch his name. Is he another existing character from the books?
