TV commentary:
Nikita- Heh, well that was kinda anti-climatic solution to last week's cliffhanger. Heh, last week Nikita is wounded before she can rendezvous with Michael, so it seemed like they'll be all separate again, with them trying to figure out what happened to her while she has to figure out some way to fix herself and decide whether to contact them or not. But nope, its resolved in the first five seconds- she makes it to a vet hospital, passes out, and Michael took her back to the plane to reunite with the team. Well, I guess they do only have 6 episodes to finish everything, so they don't have time for things like that.
Heh, I'm amused they brought up the whole they have to keep the original alive in case they need them for operational info- i.e., they need some intel that only the original knows that they can pass on to the double. (just like that White Collar ep a few weeks ago!) Which means Birkhoff is still alive. I'm surprised he was the one they chose to mimic, given he's like this super hacker, which would be something really hard to fake. I suppose the person they used to double could be a pretty good hacker himself. And I suppose Sonya is off with Alex, making it harder for them to figure out anything wrong with his technical proficiency. Honestly, I figured Ryan would be the smartest one to try and double.
Why? Because even though he is smart as hell and supposedly comes up with connections other people don't see, its easier to fake "not being able to figure it out" than it is to fake super-hackery, particularly since him messing up hackery can get them killed. I mean, on the one hand, that can be useful, its an easy way to burn them, but that means if it doesn't burn them completely, they can be all, "Birkhoff, how did you screw this up?" and if Sonya was there, she could possibly double check things and find him out. With Ryan on the other hand, if they have him tied up, than he can figure them out. And it would be harder for them to figure out a fake Ryan not doing his job, because its not like they would know he's not making connections, since that's the whole point of him.
But whatever, Amanda just killed the Feeb since the gang wouldn't back down, so I'm hoping they won't kill Birkhoff since that would just be a rehash of what happened this ep. Although from the previews I'm worried they might kill Ryan. It sounds like the Shop has all sorts of things running that Amanda doesn't even know about, so maybe they might want to off him to prevent him from figuring out what they want to do. I mean, that was weird that the Shop guy looked at a file of all of them, and was all, "Yes, Ryan Fletcher!" and nothing happened with it.
Its interesting because it sounds like the Shop is doing things Amanda doesn't know about, and she's so busy with her war on Nikita and congratulating herself on outsmarting her nemesis, that there's all this stuff going on she's not privy to. Its like, can she trust these new partners not to screw her over? Because she's supposed to be this smart lady, seeing all the angles, and it seems this season she's half blind because she's so busy with team Nikita. Particularly since she'll do a move and they'll be all, "You're messing up our plans!"
That was clever though, with the shop framing Alex as being the third party. Well, its not so much framing since she is funding Team Nikita. But interesting, that leaves Sonya and Sam having to team up to rescue Alex, since presumably the gang will be busy with this upcoming Birkhoff thing. Well, its amusing because of all the members of the team, they're prolly the two furthest apart.
Final comments, the showdown with killing the double. First off, since the wife had been killed, how did Amanda not expect the Feeb guy to be all, "I don't care what happens to me, eff them over!" On the other side, yeah, the double's DNA wouldn't match what was on file, but with their pull surely its easy to doctor the results! But I'm glad the team is trying to get it through Nikita's thick skull that the deaths this season are not her fault, she didn't kill them, the bad guys did.
