TV commentary:
Walking Dead- Were people really clamoring for a governor episode? So this week, we see what the governor was apparently up to this whole time. Dangit, I was hoping to see how Daryl would react to the news about Carol, but we're note even up to that point in time from the Governor's point of view.
So what was he doing? Well, the guys he didn't end up killing end up abandoning him, so he wanders around all sad, growing a scraggly beard. Eventually, he happens upon the chick from the Unit/Diggle's ex-wife Lilly, her lesbian sister Tara, their father with cancer, and Lilly's daughter Megan. (Apparently their last name is Chalmers, which always makes me think Super Nintendo Chalmers) Since he's all emo, they take him in, thinking he's an okay guy. He braves zombies for them doing tasks like getting oxygen tanks for the old man.
They warm to him, he shaves his beard, gets the little girl to open up, and is just hanging out when eventually the father dies of his cancer. Because they are oblivious, they have no idea he's about to turn. I don't know why the Governor didn't tell them when they were gathered around the body, but I guess its because the little girl was there and he didn't want to upset her. Of course, when Tara's father attacks her, the Governor is forced to bash his head in with the oxygen tank. Tara is thankful, but Megan is afraid of him now.
He tells them he's gonna leave, since he figures they're not too keen on him after seeing his violent streak. But, they want to run off with him, so they pile in a truck and do. And apparently Lilly is totally into the governor, and they end up totally doing it one night, even though her sister and daughter are asleep right next to them.
The truck breaks down, and they have to flee a crowd of Walkers. He ends up saving Megan, carrying her and running off, and amusingly falls into one of those zombie pits his men used to make. But he gets in some bad-ass moves, killing walkers with his bare hands- like totally pulling a road house and literally ripping one of their throats out with his hand. And, it looks like his men who abandoned him were there, clearing out the zombies who were chasing them. But we'll have to wait to see what happens with him next week.
OUAT- So people guessed right. Pan is indeed Rumpel's dad. Turns out, his dad was a terrible father (surprise, surprise) and a con man. Rumpel comes into possession of a magic bean and his dad makes him use it to take him to Neverland. Apparently Rumpel's dad used to visit the place when he was a kid, but its not working for him like it used to since he's an adult now.
A shadow finds him and tells him he doesn't belong there, but it allows him to stay if he sends Rumpel off- Rumpel is a constant reminded he's no longer a kid, so by abandoning him, he can become the young Pan we've been seeing. So he does, and Rumpel ends up in the care of a couple of ladies. Meanwhile, the shadow tells Pan people aren't meant to stay in Neverland forever- so there's an hourglass in skull island counting down how much time he has left until he dies. So in the present, that time is nearly up, which is why he needs Henry's heart.
Anyways, in Neverland present, everyone reunites. Neal is wary of Rumpel, telling everyone of the prophecy. Rumpel insists he's not trying to kill his grandson anymore, and needless to say, everyone is skeptical. So, he gives Neal Pandora's box to hold onto. They eventually come upon the Lost Boy camp, and Regina knocks all the boys out. They find Wendy, who claims she doesn't know anything of consequence, until Rumpel exposes her as a liar- they get her to tell the truth after saying her brothers are alive and fine and in Storybrooke. She tells them to go to Skull Island, and while the Snow, David, Hook, and Tink guard the Lost Boys, Rumpel, Neal and Henry's moms go to Skull Island.
Unfortunately, its protected by a barrier that will only let those without shadows through. So Rumpel can get in, but the rest of them can't. He tells Neal to trust him and give him the box, which he does. Unfortunately, when Rumpel confronts his dad, he hesitates, giving Peter a chance to switch boxes on him. So now that he has Pandora's box, he imprisons Rumpel in it.
However, Regina and Emma use magic to cause an eclipse so they won't cast shadows, allowing Henry's parents to get in. They come upon Pan having already cast magic on Henry to allow him to take out his own heart to put in Pan "to save magic". They plead with Henry to get away from Pan, that they love him and that Pan's trying to trick him. Unfortunately, Pan is too good a liar, and Henry believes putting his heart in Pan will save magic, so he does. He falls dead (well, I'm sure not dead, dead, the gang will surely find a way to fix this) and Peter is now all-powerful. The end. Whoops!

Date: 2013-11-18 05:11 pm (UTC)But yeah, while his parents being there does make Pan seem unreliable, I don't think it was big enough evidence that everything Pan said was a lie. Plus, I think Henry got a little arrogant because of his pedigree- he's the son of the savior, and Pan wove a perfect tale about magic dying and Henry being the only one who can save it. I think he wanted to be a hero, hence him still going along with Pan's plan.
