Saw Thor: Dark World today. Alas, without the usual suspects. I thought it was good. Some nice action, more than a few funny moments. But its sad that that moment between Thor and Odin in the end is BS, since it was Loki in disguise. So they didn't reconcile! We have no idea if he actually did approve of Thor's actions. I mean, they saved the day, but still, Odin was adamant. I would like to think he would be understanding though since they won. But technically, given he, Sif, Heimdall, and 2/3 of the Warriors Three (what's up with Hogun just sticking at home, could they not get him except for those two scenes?) had committed treason, they still haven't been officially pardoned.
Also, I want to hope that it wasn't just lip service to Thor so he'd be all happy and leave, and that he meant the words he said as Odin. That was one part I liked about the movie, that despite their differences in the previous two movies, their shared grief over Frigga's death demonstrated they're still brothers.
It was weird that they put Thor returning to Jane at the end, end, in a 2nd post credits scene. Like half the theater don't know that Thor did return and didn't just abandon Jane again! (Also, how is that giant dog monster still wandering around?! Its not like it can hide, people would be freaking out!) It did seem very anime though, like at the end of all those series, where the hero goes off (or seemingly dies defeating the big bad) and after the credits, they show up to reunite with their loved one.
And interesting, there were rumors Benicio Del Toro had been cast as something, and I guess we find out in the 1st post credits scene. He's the Collector! And apparently the Tesseract and the Aether are two of the six infinity gems?
TV commentary:
Korra- Woah, great callbacks! So apparently after Iroh (Zuko's uncle, not his grandson!) was done with everything he need to do back in the day, he just left his body and went to the spirit world, so he's hanging out there, and ends up helping Korra.
And, Jinora goes back to that library from the original cartoon, run by that owl! And they even show the corpse of that professor guy who decided to stay there! It was a neat little connection to the old series.
