TV commentary:

Vampire Diaries- Just a couple more comments, that I was reminded of from Price Peterson's always amusing TVD photo recaps. Heh, part of the enjoyment of the shows I watch are reading the TWoP recaps later (well, for some shows), TV.com's photo recaps for shows like TVD/Originals and OUAT/OUATIW and AfterEllen's Glee recaps. But I digress. I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed Caroline and Katherine being as thick as thieves working over the Doc. Needless to say, Care Bear sure seemed to be having fun- those mischievous smiles Caroline and Kiki kept flashing each other were great.

Also, I forgot how amusingly dorky and hobo-y Katherine was at the party. Embarrassingly stuffing her face and putting food in her pocket like a poor. (Which is starting to make me think she did drug Nadia and run off, otherwise, couldn't she turn to her daughter for shelter and food?!!) Then when she bumped into Aaron, her attempts to find out about the secret society were hilarious. Normally Katherine is clever and manipulative, but when she tried to question Aaron, its like, "What is wrong with you, dork?!" All, "I know about the secret society, wink, wink, nudge, nudge!" Its a good thing Aaron was seemingly unaware of all that, because if she went up to a real member, they'd be all, "WTF?!"

OUAT: Wonderland- Hey, that chick, Lizard is totes cute! So with Will now a statue, will Lizard be Alice's companion until they figure out how to unstone him? And it looks like Alice now knows the Red Queen is Anastasia. Also, is that a weird loophole in the genie rules? Cyrus made it clear you can't kill someone with magic. But she linked herself to Will so Jafar couldn't kill him since he needs her alive to make the wishes (wait, does that also mean if the owner dies through dumb luck, then that genie is stuck?)- she used her first wish to wish that she would die if the Knave did. Its not exactly wishing to kill someone, but if someone kills Will, isn't that sorta using magic to kill Alice?

But yeah, this ep was Jafar backstory. In this version of the tale, he was the bastard son of the Sultan, who went to learn dark magic for revenge. He and his teacher, played by that chick from Lost/Lone Gunmen enact a plan to "change the rules of magic". We heard something of this before, but now we have more details. You need 3 genies, of which Jafar already has 2, and Cyrus will be the third. Also, his lover/mentor underestimated his ambition- he ends up betraying her, turning her into a snake, and then turned said snake into his staff.

Oh, and it looks like Cyrus is trying to make his own way out, thanks to a wishbone.
