TV commentary:

Dexter- Final season premiere. So the ep starts 6 months after last season's finale. Dexter is seemingly peachy while Deb is a huge effin' mess. She just walks out on the force, becomes a promiscuous druggie PI taking crazy risks and not caring if she lives or dies. She ends up shacking up with some idiot who robbed the mob who she was supposed to be investigating, and was trying to fence the goods, but the fence he found who would take it was actually a hitman, which Dexter figures out. He tries to warn Deb, to "rescue" her, but she actually likes the guy she's been shacking up with. The guy eventually gets into it with Dexter, who stabs him to death.

With Dex not leaving her alone, Deb comes to a realization- his constant pestering prolly has less to do with caring about her (after all, he is a psychopath), but rather that he needs her. She was always his connection to humanity, and he's basically destroyed that. Now without that anchor, he's slowly spiraling out of control, starting to unleash violent outbursts, choking out guys who cut him off on the highway or screaming at Harrison for breaking LaGuerta's vase.

In any case, Deb calls in the murder, and think she's all fine because the hitman never saw her, but he does see her at the crime scene, and is most likely going to come after her to see if she knows where the goods are.

Other goings on- LaGuerta's death made Batista change his mind about retiring, and between that and Deb walking out on the job, he's now LT. And Quinn is secretly banging Angel's sister. Also, there's a new serial killer, someone scooping out a portion of people's brains, and some British doctor lady who used to consult with Matthews back in the day offers to help with the case. She seems to know Dexter is a serial killer, dropping vague hints in convos with Dexter. This culminates with her dropping off an envelope full of his childhood drawings to him, and when he threatens her and asks her what her game is, she replies he can't kill her since she doesn't fit Dex's code. Interesting, I mean, if she knew Matthews, she prolly knew Harry. And being a psychiatrist who specializes in psychopaths, if she ended up being someone Harry trusted, she might have asked her about Dexter. Which, did she know Dexter when she was a kid, and he just forgot?
