Apr. 28th, 2013 07:24 pmSo, just finished "Remember Sunday". One non-spoiler comment first- Alexis Bledel is totes wicked mad cute looking in this. Like I said, cute movie, but incredibly frustrating. So, Chuck has the "50 First Dates" memory thing going on. He meets Rory, and she thinks he's a sweet guy, and obviously, she's her, so of course he's taken with her.
Of course, there's all these things in their way- he misses their first date because there's a power outage, and his pen recorder to computer transcription fails. So, he doesn't know they have a date. Which, if it was that important, write it down as well!
Then when he tries to tell her, first, he leaves a message to have her meet him somewhere. Which her roommate deletes, because she thinks he's being all shady and isn't a good guy for her. But she has a change of heart and confesses that she deleted it to Rory. So she goes to meet him, and again he tries to tell her about his condition. But then his recorder pen goes off, so she thinks he's some kinda weirdo.
She tells him to get lost, and then his computer with all his files gets ruined, so he checks himself into the hospital. So when she goes to try and see him again, his sister tells him what's up. And they're bf-gf for a while. She submits his work back to the Observatory in California he used to work at, which leads to some breakthrough. So she takes him there to see the fruits of his labor. She also meets his ex-fiancee (played by Alex Mack), who freaks her out a little when she says she dumped Chuck because his memory thing was too much for her. She wanted kids, and how could he have kids, whom he wouldn't know?
But she also learns of this breakthough surgery that might work for him. Only when she comes back from California, his sister informs her, he's actually had the surgery already, and it didn't work. And then when she sees he's planning to propose, he cuts herself out of his life and he forgets about her.
Then in the end though, she has a change of heart, and reconnects with him. And the movie ends with her asking him out on another date again, her seemingly a stranger. (Is she gonna tell him, "Oh yeah, I used to be your gf, but I freaked out and I made you forget me!") So I guess it ends with their future up in the air, but hopeful. Which is a frustrating as hell ending. Call me lame, but hey, its Hollywood, I know its not realistic, but couldn't they have him remember somehow. Even 50 First Dates referenced Drew Barrymore having images of Adam Sandler in her head.
