Finally saw that Raid: The Redemption movie. Its a pretty entertaining action movie. Quite brutal though. But that's to be expected, given the protagonist is a silat master. The south-east Asian martial arts have always been about effing you up big time quickly and efficiently. I still don't see the point of an American remake though. I guess I did hear it was using the same fight choreographer, which makes it easier to stomach. Because the story isn't that deep- a bunch of cops RAID a gangster's tenement and it goes horribly wrong, and they get trapped and have to fight their way out. (Which also seems to be the plot of new Judge Dredd movie!) The appeal of Raid were the fights, which were done by skilled silat folks. You can't just transplant some established American actor in the role and think it will be as appreciated. Like, you can't do a Hollywood version of Ong Bak without Tony Jaa, or do District B-13 with Hollywood actors instead of parkour professionals!

TV commentary:

Pretty Little Liars- Hey, Maggie is Alex Mack! I always like seeing Larisa Oleynik in stuff. To no one but the characters on the show's surprise, Maggie had the kid, as Aria discovers when she secretly goes to see her. Heh, I am amused by the theory that Aria is A because while the other Liars have all this shit going on, Aria's practically on another show! She hardly ever gets targeted by A, and while everyone else is dealing with just horrible stuff, everything with her on the show usually revolves around her relationship woes with Ezra,

But I digress, she tells Wes, mostly because he finds her looking all distressed. Heh, he volunteers to be there for moral support after she breaks the news to Ezra. I'm so sure he wants to be there for her! In any case, just as she's about to break the news to him, he admits he called Maggie, who said she's doing well. But makes no mention of the son! So Aria tells Wesley they can't tell him yet, because maybe part of his mom's deal with Maggie was to make no mention of the son to him in exchange for taking care of her and the kid. And she doesn't want to risk the kid getting cut off.

In more serious matters, Pastor Ted shows up with a flash drive he found in the church (the one Spencer lost when Ian attacked her) and says he looked at some of it and was disturbed since it seemed like vids of the Liars being taped without their knowledge. Hanna and Spencer overhear this and try to steal the drive after he leaves, but Ashley catches them. Hanna doesn't want her mom to turn it into the cops, mostly because they promised to keep that one video of Jenna from being released, and she's afraid that Jenna might retaliate. Ashley says she's going to watch it and determine whether she should turn it over to the police. Hanna warns Caleb, and when he meets her again later for some secret loving, says he told Ashley that if she turns it in, Wilden and the other cops will prolly be watching pervy vids of Hanna, plus Garrett was also one of Rosewood's finest, so can she really trust them? In the end, Ash destroys it, because the drive contains vids of her and Wilden, and she doesn't want that getting out now that she has something good going on with Ted.

In Spencer's storyline, besides getting locked in a dressing room and attacked by a snake, she learns from CeCe that Paige and Ali used to have beef, and that Ali's nickname for Paige was "Pigskin", whom Spencer has a flashback of Ali sporting a big bruise given to her by someone named Pigskin. So this is enough to convince Spence that Paige is "A", so she spends the whole ep trying to warn Emily, which doesn't go so well. Speaking of Emily, Nate starts turning super-creepy, particularly because he thinks they have something going on after their kiss. Emily shoots him down real quick, and actually does confess what happened to Paige, who seems to forgive her. In any case, while Spencer is trying to convince Emily of how dangerous Paige is, Paige in turn is asking Emily if she can trust her supposed friends.

Honestly, I think Paige trying to cast suspicion on the other Liars is less her being A, and more she doesn't trust the other Liars because of all the horrible things Ali did to her. Which includes cruelly pretending to be Emily and pretending Em had a crush on her, and catching Paige trying to send a note back to Emily and using it to blackmail her. In any case, things come to a head when Hanna and Spencer go through Emily's purse looking for the knife from the cabin that went missing from Emily's house. They get caught, and Emily is pissed and goes home with Paige. Spencer thinks its fine, because she thinks she's found evidence for Paige being A, in the form of one of the earrings from Ali's grave being in her purse. Which is far from a smoking gun, but you know Spencer, when she sets her mind someone is guilty, nothing will dissuade her.

Paige confesses to Em about Ali's bullying and Emily comforts her, and when Paige steps inside, Jenna shows up to warn Emily about her "friend", but she freaks when she sees the two cups. Which seems to make one think she was warning Emily about Paige and got scared, but c'mon, given the blow up she had with Nate, she totally thought Nate was the one with Emily. Of course, the show tries to cast suspicion on Paige by sending a call from Spencer when Emily is away from her phone to voicemail. But I think that's just normal crazy gf behavior, not A-behavior.

The end tag seems to finally confirm there is more than one A.
