WO blather- One thing that really annoys me about the game is some characters only have "joke" big stars, which is total BS. I'm sorry, when I'm playing a game that's about slaughtering people by the thousands, I do not find it amusing to be swinging around giant lollipops or ice cream cones. Some programmer thought it was prolly funny, but its just stupid and lame that you can't have "proper" ultimate weapons.
Its only really an issue for Taishi Ci, Pang De, and Deng Ai. Taishi Ci's only big star weapons are 2 giant corns on the cob, and 2 clubs with panda bears on them. The damage diff between his maxed out big star and 4 star is only 5. Same with Pang De, there's only a 5 point damage diff. He at least has one "non-goofy" weapon, but its the same as Xu Zhu, Huang Gai, and Shimazu's- a giant war hammer. Which is fine for them, but it looks nothing like his mace (or rather, Xiahou Dun's mace from DW6 since they gave him that moveset in this game since Zhang Liao stole the double axe moveset from him) There's enough guys with giant war hammers already, I would rather have something that looks like the DW6/7 mace that isn't a giant corn dog (actually, I guess its giant kiritanpo) or cactus.
Deng Ai shares his big stars with Nagamasa. So his choices are either the same lance Nagamasa uses, called Oichi's Guardian, or a giant totem pole looking thing. It seems inappropriate for him to use something called "Oichi's Guardian" since he's not the one with Oichi, plus the color scheme doesn't match him. And its a normal looking lance, which doesn't really match his move set, as his moves involve drilling, the animations of which only make sense when he's using his "drill lance". What's even more annoying though is that there's an 11 point damage diff between his four star and big star. I mean in the scheme of things, that's not a lot, but still, its annoying that you're not at your most powerful.
TV commentary:
True Blood- Interesting, so Reverend Newlin is Nan's replacement? That works, I guess. Although its odd because only 2 or 3 days have passed since last season. I mean, I guess the Authority has to keep things moving way tight, but still, Eric and Bill practically JUST killed Nan, not only have they earmarked Steve for her replacement, he already knew enough to make vague comments to Jessica when they go in their little tiff?
Speaking of Jess, I dunno why I'm getting such a kick out of her playing up the whole princess thing, all "my daddy is the king". But interesting, the whole thing with her chasing after that one guy who "smelled good", does that means the fae are coming back into play?
But getting back to the Authority and Bill and Eric. So, Salome is actually supposed to be biblical Salome? I'm kinda amused her method of sorting out whether Bill and Eric are secret sanguinistas is to seduce and eff them. And heh, she reports to Roman that they're no threat to mainstreaming because Bill doesn't have any strong beliefs, whereas Eric is egotistical jerk who only believes in himself.
Its just amusing to think the Authority are actually spending this much time and effort trying to suss out something that just isn't there. I guess "they're just eff ups who's only motivation has been protecting their faerie poon" hasn't occurred to them. Well, particularly since they're unaware of Sookie's fae status. Which I still find weird, what the Authority knows and what they don't. Because at times they seem all knowing, but apparently the Russell Edgington still being alive and Sookie being a faerie is unknown to them.
And is Nora a sanguinista, or was she only saying that because Cougar Town chick threatened Eric? It seems like that might be the case, but at the same time, the fact that Salome brought Nora in, and there's something definitely hincky going on with her, because it does seem like she's not being entirely truthful with Roman. I mean, I didn't catch any lies, but it does seem like she might be trying to play him.
You know, Debbie's parent seem all normal, but I forgot they'd have to be Were also. But given Tara being a vamp was revealed, Sookie eventually has no choice but to reveal the truth to Alcide. Who's kinda pissed about the whole thing and says he has to tell her parents, so I'm curious how all that will play out. Because obviously he's mad at her for lying and despite abjuring Debbie, he still loved her, I think. But I wouldn't think he would let Debbie's parents attack Sookie, since I would think they'd want revenge.
Oh, and we finally find out Pam's origin. She was a madame in San Fran, and apparently the people draining her girls were Bill and Lorena! So I guess this was Bill and Eric's first meeting as well? In any case, Pam wants to be turned because once she gets old and unattractive, there's nothing for her, so she wants to be turned before then. Eric says she doesn't know what she's asking, being a vamp isn't everything she expects it to be. But, she ends up slitting her wrists and making Eric make the choice- let her die, or turn her. Obviously, he picked the latter.
