Walking Dead- Wait, so [livejournal.com profile] clevemire and I were trying to remember Herschel's fate in the comic, so I was looking that up in the Walking Dead wiki to see if I was correct, and apparently that boy at the Herschel farm is not Herschel's son?! I mean, given how big Herschel's family was in the comics, I assumed that the people who were not Otis and his wife were part of Herschel's family. But apparently, Herschel only has the two living kids, Maggie, and Beth (who apparently isn't a comic character! Since his kids save for Maggs were dropping like flies in the comic, I didn't bother learning their names, so I just assumed she was one of them). But apparently, this kid, Jimmy, is Beth's boyfriend. Did they mention this at some point, and I just wasn't paying attention?! Well, good to know now, because if they had started doing any PDA, I would've been all, "WTF?! Is that how it is in the family?!"

But damn Rick, channeling Raylan Givens! So Rick and Glenn go looking for Herschel, who had gone to the local bar to drink away his troubles after the horror of the barn. While trying to talk him back to the farm, they're happened upon a couple of shady Philly mooks. The guys not so subtly keep pumping Herschel, Glenn, and Rick for info on where they're from, and its pretty obvious these guys plan on attacking wherever that is (and given how fat one earlier asks if they have any "cooze", prolly raping the women). The one played by Rene from True Blood (heh, I can't remember if he talked normal on Terriers, because he was doing a fake Cajun accent in True Blood, and now he's doing a Philly accent here) thinks he's all clever, making it obvious he's carrying a gun, and then to put the guys at ease, makes a show of laying it on the bar to make it clear he's not wanting any trouble.

Rick's no fool though! He knows what's coming, and that skinny Philly guy has another gun, so when the guy draws on him, Rick's ready. Rick outdraws him, putting one right between his eyes (and wow, they didn't skimp on the blood, that back wall was splattered with the guy's brains!), and then quickly turns around and puts three in the fat one. Looks like it was a two and one, too (double tap to the chest, one to the head in quick succession)

Anyways, the farm needs Herschel back soon, because Beth collapsed. Unbeknown to them, since Glenn and Rick left to search for Herschel, she's started to run a fever. Which means she was prolly scratched by her mom when she went to see her zombie corpse after the barn massacre. On the one hand, in the comics, Herschel did lose two children when the walkers in the barn got loose, but on the other, it seems kinda prosaic if Beth got infected. They just friggin killed Sophia, do we need to see another young girl turn and have to be put down?

Because Lori is a big effin idiot on the TV show, she drives to find the men, since Daryl wasn't willing to go, since he's still pissed over the Sophia thing. She promptly hits a walker, loses control of her car and crashes it. Why did she even go out? First, Rick and Glenn already know something happened to Beth, that's why they set out to find Herschel. Yeah, there's the new symptom of the fever, but its not like they were going to lolly gag around once they found him, they were already trying to bring Herschel back asap because something happened to his daughter. Thanks for wrecking a car and putting yourself in danger for nothing, moron!
