Back to working from my office instead of the NOC, because TPTB would prefer I did. Not that I mind, it just feels very insulated from everything.
TV commentary:
Glee- One other thing I wanted to mention about Harmony, since most of the same people who are fans of the Sugar from the future fanon also like the idea of Harmony being the Fababy, her brief conversation with Kurt is such compelling evidence of this. I mean, in that one scene she just seemed like the amalgam of Rachel and Quinn. It would be funny if the future thing did become canon (the things the fans have come up with is quite convincing. Like Harmony wearing that one necklace of Rach's that she got last Valentine's day). Glee is done by the same folks who did Nip/Tuck, Popular, and American Horror Story. Honestly, out of those four shows, Glee is the "most normal", but I wouldn't put it past the writers to take it to those other shows' level of crazy.
They don't have to make Rachel and Quinn lovers or anything, but I do like seeing them as friends. Its always seemed like such wasted potential there that the writers were missing out on, so I was happy they got so many scenes together. Of course, its hard to not ship them as more than friends when they have such chemistry. Heh, I almost did a double take, because when Quinn said "I love Beth", I totally thought she was going to say "you".
Anyways, since the TT performance leaked early, I said ND would have to bring their A-game to beat that, and in my last post, I said they did just that. And actually, having watched it a few more times, I would have to say it was one of their better performances. Then again, sectionals has always featured great numbers by ND. But it wasn't just great because of the performances, I love the reactions shots they got managed to fit in so seamlessly without taking away from the performance- Mike's shocked hopefulness when his dad actually shows up, Kurt's jealousy that Sebastian is there, Mercedes so falling back in love with Sam. And that's just the plot vital stuff! Sugar had a lot of fun reactions shots, and it was nice to see TT get into the Man in the Mirror performance and even though they were opponents, they could still support their friends from the stands. Plus, while Will's other reaction shots during the numbers evoked eye-rolls, the last shot, when he was beaming with pride because he knew they had this, it was shades of the first sectionals, when he couldn't be there and Emma had her phone out so he could listen to it and he was so overcome with joy over their performance. All in all, this ep harkened back to s1 levels of glory.
Dynasty Warriors blather- Yeah, the lightning flute/wind fan on red hare set up does make nightmare mode quite easy. Like everyone on the forums freaking out about trying to get the nightmare dragon spear from Wu Zhang Plains, all, "Its impossible to do in one player!" had me worried I wouldn't be able to get it, but got it on my second try. And I only failed on my first try because I didn't know how much time I had to kill Deng Ai. But once I had that limit in mind, I knew what I needed to do.
Of course, its not 100% perfect. First off, there's the problem of indoor places where you can't use the horse. And apparently not all the Jin get the "recover health from attack with speed-type weapons" ability. They get it for their Ex-weapons, so you won't be healing from the above setup, which means you can die real quick. But I guess the above setup is mainly for achieving title requirements and getting nightmare weapons. If you don't have to worry about such things, as long as you have one of the health recovery from attacking titles, you should be good. You might have some "Oh crap!" where all of a sudden you go from full health down to red in an instant from a mob of peons (or a ballista!) but as long as you don't panic, you should be able to reover back really quick.
Of course, by that measure, the Jin do have an advantage because they don't have to switch to another weapon if they're EX-weapon isn't a speed one. But yeah, for the non-Jin, those with speed based EX-weapons have a distinct advantage. Particularly if the element on their best weapon is death, lightning, or wind. Then they're halfway to an optimum setup! I favor death/lightning on the easier settings, because that's the most devastating. But for the higher levels, where the officers turtle like crazy, wind is a must. Unless its a character with an attack chain that includes an auto-grab/unblockable. Then you can just use that to get past their defenses.
Luckily, Lu Bu has that on both his c3 and c5, so he gets to use dual death element weapons to capitalize on his built in synergy seal. I had been equipping him with the chaos rapier, since its a level 9 death element, but now that I have the nightmare level sword (which is also L8 or L9 death), I've switched to that. Not a big fan of the rapier moveset, the best moves are the character specific attacks that Sima Shi, Liu Shan. and Yuan Shao get. The sword isn't anything to write home about, but its a solid moveset. So, if Lu Bu starts taking a beating, just switch to that and carve through some peons to quickly get his health back to full. And the fact that you get a massive speed and attack boost when you switch to the halberd, he's just monstrous against officers when you switch back. In fact, I don't think you even need to do c3 or c5, because the attacks move faster than they can initially block, so the c6 will practically wipe them out,
Oh, one last thing, have I mentioned how amusing I find it that the trophy for hearing all the male character's devotion lines is named "Its Raining Men"?
