geebsWhat the eff, no Glee First Listen Fridays because of the holiday? There is at least a quick sneak peak of the songs for next week's episode out. So it appears the ND's competing song against the phenomenal Adele mashup by the Troubletones is a Hall and Oates mashup of "I Can't Go For That" and "You Make My Dreams"? While the idea of a Hall and Oates mashup is kinda awesome (particularly one that includes YMMD), the execution nowhere near compares to "Rumor Has It/Someone Like You". They sped up YMMD to the point that it just sounds kitschy. Speeding up "Someone Like You" in the Adele mashup makes sense so it would blend with "Rumor Has It" better, but I don't think its necessary with the Hall and Oates choices. So honestly, if those are the two songs in the competition, than the Troubletones totally kicked ND's ass, its not even funny.
Heh, I guess they have Shelby and Mr. Schu doing a mashup of Lady Gaga's "You and I", and the Eddie Rabbit/Crystal Gayle song of the same name, which are both songs I like. And there's also a mashup of "Hit Me With You Best Shot" by Pat Benatar and Blondie's "One Way or Another" which is an "argument duet" between Finn and Santana. Again, I like all those songs individually, but other than RHI/SLY, the rest of the mashups in this ep don't compare. Finally, there's Puck doing "Hot For Teacher", because who else would they have do such a song. Heh, the preview is mostly a redo of the corny Van Halen dialogue part, which just sounds kinda cheesy here. Not that I like the original all that much, I think Van Halen sounds like a bunch of cocky little pricks in it, like I just wanna punch all of them in their punk faces when I hear that "I brought my pencil!" line. I also want to punch the little versions of them in the video, because they think they look so effin cool. Argh, I just hate that song/video so much! Also, I never had a hot teacher I wanted to bang until I got into college. And we know how that situation turned out!

Burn Notice- Heh, the back story of Michael's up until now unmentioned former best friend when he was a kid and that friend's brother was kinda confusing. So Andre, Dion, Nate and Mikey were a bunch of little hellraisers back in the day, and while Mike went the Army route and became a superspy, Andre became a small time thug and ended up in jail, but then eventually got out and turned his life around, but never made contact with Mike again?
I guess what's confusing is that it seemed Mike and Andre lost touch because their lives went so differently, but then he's talking to Dion like everything's cool between them, when Dion is also a gangster (and apparently still is) I mean, isn't it kinda awkweird to be all, "Your brother and I stopped hanging out because he became a scumbag criminal!" to someone who also became a criminal? I mean, Dion must be shady if he's brokering a deal between a gang and an arms dealer! Granted, its not like Michael and Dion were acting all that friendly, it did seem more like how one would talk to someone they knew when they were younger and hadn't seen in almost a lifetime and are only seeing them now because of tragedy- all polite but a little aloof. But like I said, it still seems weird to me for them to talk about Andre and his bad choices and then fixing his life up, when it seems Dion would have to have made similar choices.
Anyways, saw a Clery safety act e-mail in my work inbox today. Apparently a girl was raped in the alley just outside the building last night? I pass that alley every day as I go between the parking deck and work! Its not all that remote or secluded! I mean, I wouldn't want to walk down it by myself at 3am at night, but even that's being ultra-paranoid because its still the heart of campus. Which is why its even more disturbing that it occurred around 640pm, where I'd expect that part of campus to be crowded because of the Thursday night football game, because its right there by the stadium. Plus, the alley is between our building and a bunch of frat houses, which I would think would be booming with pre-game party-goers. Then again, I suppose people might be too busy partying to notice anything in the alley, plus, since they frickin' kick us out of the parking deck by 5pm under threat of towing any cars in still in there because they have to make room for all the people watching the game to park, everyone in my building who would normally leave at that time would have long since left to get their cars out of there and avoid the crowds.
