TV commentary:

True Blood- So, with Game of Thrones' 1st season done with, True Blood is back in the Sunday 9pm timeslot. Interesting developments this season. But first as an aside, I've mentioned how Supernatural seems to be very much like WoD Hunter, the TV show, but True Blood seems to capture the rest of the WoD and weave the various supernatural types decently. I mean last season, we got werewolves, and started to see an inkling of mages and faeries, but this season seems like those latter two categories will come into play more.

So Sookie is in Faerie, and it seems all nice and pretty, and she bumps into that bellboy kid from the previous seasons, as well as her grandpappy. As anyone familiar with the Wyld knows, time passes differently there. So while her gramps thought he's only been there for a couple of hours, he's been gone to Sookie and her family for almost 20 years. (Heh, wait, when her granddad asked about her grams, she said she went peaceful. Didn't Rene kill her?) In any case, between her grandfather's lost time and everyone acting a little too chill after eating the fruit being offered, Sookie gets suspicious. Of course, she tries to secretly warn her grandfather in her mind that something is wrong, forgetting SHE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO'S FRIGGIN TELEPATHIC! So everyone knows she's freaked, and the Faerie Queen herself comes to re-assure her, and when that doesn't work, tries to shove the fruit down her throat. Apparently, the whole Sookie letting vamps drink from her freaked the faeries out, so they're wanting to collect back anyone with their blood back to the faerie plane and seal themselves off from the real world forever.

So, Sookie blasts the Queen, and what looked like a tampon commercial garden place turns into a desert wasteland, and all the pretty faeries turn into ugly goblin like creatures. Sookie and her grandpa escaped, with the faeries giving chase and throwing magical fireballs at them. Luckily for them, there are some rebel faeries who don't want to be cut off from the real world, who lead Sookie to the exit. But only those who didn't eat the fruit can leave and live, so her grandpa can't go. However, the queen doesn't give them a choice and gramps grabs Sookie and they jump, ending back up at the cemetery.

Gramps is dying, but he manages to make it until Sookie can take him to the graves of Grams and her parents, and he gives her his pocketwatch to give to Jason before turning into dust. So, she heads home, thinking its been a weird ten minutes, even though she should be worried given how much time her grandpa perceived to have passed and how much time had actually passed. So, she's shocked to go home, find a bunch of workers doing work on the place and telling her she's trespassing.

They call the cops, and Jason rolls up, now in a Deputy's uniform. He shocks her by saying its been a year and everyone thought she was dead. She tells him what happened, and he's all, "Don't tell anyone that, they'll think you're crazy!" even though they live in a world where vampires exist and walk amongst the world. Anyways, he breaks the news that because everyone thought she was dead, he sold the house, because he got a huge offer for it, and it just reminded him of all the people he'd lost.

Both Bill and Eric sensed Sookie when she returned and came to pay their respects. She sends Eric away while Bill tries to profusely apologize for what happened when last they saw each other. Then Andy rolls up, all pissed because everyone was worried about her. Since Jason is nixing her saying anything about faeries, even though Andy himself has seen shifters and werewolves and a friggin Maenad, Bill has to lie and say he sent her on important secret vampire business, and he'll compensate the cops for their man hours.

So what exactly has happened with everyone since Sookie's been gone?

Tara- With all that she's been through, she ran away from Bon Temps and is currently in New Orleans, going by the name Toni. Oh, and now she's a cage fighter. And a lesbo!

Jason- He's a full deputy now, with the uniform and everything. Unfortunately, Andy's a V-addict right now, so Jason is the one kinda running things. Andy is still sheriff, but Jason is having to constantly cover for his increasingly erratic behavior. He's also still taking care of those Hot Shot freaks since Crystal and her family are still gone. The inbred freak kids repay him by locking him in a fridge when he shows up with groceries.

Lafayette- Jesus is trying to get him to join this coven that also contains Holly Cleary, but also new characters. One is a cute nerd girl played by Alex Breckinridge, and the other is the circle's leader, creepily played by Petunia Dursley. When she channels Jimmy James, Lafayette is pissed, thinking Jesus told her and that they were trying to trick him into a cult, but Jesus manages to convince him to come back.

So he does, and then Aunt Petunia freaks the rest of the circle out by trying to cast a resurrection spell on her dead parakeet. It works for a few seconds, but it dies again. Still, the circle is both scared and excited at casting such a spell.

Terry and Arlene- Arlene finally had her devil child, who has been doing creepy things like tearing the heads off barbie dolls. But Terry chalks it up to boys just being boys. Still Arlene is freaked that the spawn of Rene is also going to grow up to be a serial killer.

Sam- He's still his grumpy old self, but now he has shifter friends he hangs out with at fancy dinner parties. And at the end, they all turn into horses and going running into the night. As for Tommy, for some reason he's hanging out with Maxine Foytenberry now, and she's made him into a surrogate for Hoyt.

Hoyt and Jessica- They've been living together, and it seems like they're at each others throats, but even their fights are cute. So things are strained, but they still seem to love each other- though it may not be enough for Jessica. She's happy with Hoyt, but she still wants to go to Fangtasia to party. Pam notices this and warns Jessica that she's being ridiculous, and the normal home life isn't their lot. It is kinda amusing that Pam was disgusted with Jessica in the beginning, and now she's become the wiser older sister type to Jess, not that Jess is listening right now.

The vampires- So, in the wake of Russell's action last season, Nan has been trying to rebuild human-vamp relations. How? By having Eric as a spokesman who's all, "We used to be people too, so you can trust us!" Bill is also doing his own politicking, as he's apparently king of Louisiana now. Its odd to see vamps out in the open talking about their vampness. So while Eric is trying to focus on the similarities between humans and vamp, Bill is not trying to hide it, talking about being Bon Temps oldest citizen and basically highlighting the fact he's an immortal creature.

Anyhoo, he apparently has something going on with Andy's sister (played by Trinity's daughter). And she's helping Sookie try to buy her house back. Also working for Bill? Cute nerd girl witch, who is apparently some sort of spy for him. Not sure what their agenda is yet.

Oh, and who does own Sookie's house now? Turns out the mysterious corporation that bought it is none other than Eric. So, he's free to enter her house (well his house) at will. And he does, while she's nekkid and changing. Then the ep ends with him getting all creepy and rape-y sounding by talking about how he owns the house and her now, and he will have her.
