geebsSo, I didn't catch any of the MTV movie awards last night, all I know is Twilight won everything, and Chloe Moretz got biggest bad-ass. Which is fine, because Hit Girl is totally bad-ass. Plus, look at her competition. You have Iron Man, and while Tony Snark is a cool and awesome dude, he's only bad-ass because of the suit. I mean, sure he took on an army of heavily armed robots, but he was in a man-sized super weapon. Hit Girl was just a girl with some knives and guns, taking on dozens of guys twice/thrice her size or more!
Joseph Gordon Levitt was pretty bad-ass in Inception, particularly in the hotel fight. But let's not forget, that's all in his head, which was in turn in the Indian guy's head. Number 4? An alien super-weapon, sure, but he was played by that pretty boy who played the "hideous" beast in Beastly. Penny Arcade sums it best.
But finally, you have Jaden Smith from Karate Kid. Why the frick is he nominated in a category for biggest bad-asses of 2010? I mean, I know why he was nominated, but its still total BS. Off the top of my head, characters from last year that were more bad-ass than him: Anyone from True Grit. I haven't actually seen the movie, but it seemed to be about bad-ass cowboys being bad-ass. Also, Jennifer Laurence in Winter's Bone. Again, haven't seen the movie, but I hear she's tough as hell in it. I mean, wasn't that what got her the role of Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Hunger Games?! Rinzler/Tron didn't get to do all that much, but he at least looked bad-ass. Hell, I'd even go as far as to nominate anyone from Twilight or Harry Potter, because then they'd at least be vampires or werewolves or wizards. I mean, say what you will about guys sparkling, but he could still put his fist through your chest if he wanted to. And I just remembered Expendables was also last year. The movie was basically, lets get every action star ever and put them in this. And the new karate kid was nominated over them?!
Actually, I'm looking up movies that came out in 2010 right now. Sure some of these movies are crappy, but I would still say they had a character more bad-ass than him: Legion, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Clash of the Titans, The Losers, Prince of Persia (yes, I purport that Jake Gyllenhall doing parkour is more bad-ass than some little kid), Robin Hood, Mcgruber (hey, he's ripping out throats!, the A-Team, Knight and Day, The Last Airbender, The Sorceror's Apprentice (yes, jewish kid with magical powers is still more bad-ass than some little kid who learned a little karate), Salt, Takers, Red, 127 Hours (dude cut off his own arm!) and Faster.
