Since Fox had canceled the Seth Mcfarlane portion of its Sunday night lineup last night because it had a "hurricane" theme going, which would be kinda awkward given the 200+ deaths from tornados last week (tornados, hurricanes, same diff), I was watching the USA Sunday night lineup. And as such, I was totally unaware about the Osama thing until this morning. Well, I did see a vague tweet mentioning Osama on my twitter feed last night, but it didn't explicitly say he was dead, and I apparently checked it right before twitter went crazy with the news. Heh, and some guy apparently live tweeted about the raid as it happened without even knowing it.

Heh, I noticed people are trying to make vague connections like Hitler was confirmed dead on May 1st, 1945 so look, Hitler and Osama died on the same day. I guess they switched it to confirmed dead to make the connection work since Hitler actually died on 4/30. But given the time diff, even though it was announced in the US on May 1st, wasn't Osama actually killed on May 2nd in Pakistan?

Hmm, as much as I enjoy the Fast and the Furious franchise, I guess I'm totally unaware of its popularity. I mean, I guess it has to be popular if they made 5 of them and are prolly making a 6th. But wow, an $83.5 million box office take, and 2nd place was only $14 million?

I still think frak is the superior nerd curse word. I think it flows well off the tongue and doesn't sound as weird or fake as things like frell and goram.

TV commentary:

Doctor Who- Hmm, interesting overarching plot for the season. After Amy's pregnancy reveal last ep, this ep she said she was wrong and it was a weird after-effect of the Silence stuff. But then when she's investigating the house with the little girl, she sees pics of the girl and Amy holding her as a newborn. So the girl in the spacesuit who possibly kills the Doctor (though we don't see its face, so it could totally be someone different in the suit) is possibly Amy's daughter.

And that's not even the biggest surprise- the girl is a time lord, or part time lord, since she regenerates at the end. That was a little disturbing though, are they implying that the girl, being homeless and destitute, had basically starved to death, and that's why she was about to regenerate? But anyways, why is she a time lord? (or is it time lady?) Amy reveals that she really loves Rory, not the Doctor. But she told the Doctor about the possible pregnancy, and not Rory. She claims it was because the Doctor was her best friend, and she didn't want to worry Rory anyways (and as far as she knows, it was a false alarm) because she was freaked that all the travel through the time vortex might affect the pregnancy.

Which is a valid fear, given previous eps that indicate travel in the tardis does leave trace amounts of a certain radiation on the travelers. Now, is it just that that cause her possible daughter to be time lordy? Did she cheat on Rory with the Doctor and forgot because of the crazy silence stuff?

I'm a little skeptical that the girl is also young River though. Speaking of, I'm amused that in the climax, she's holding them off but isn't killing them as the Doctor watches her. But as soon as he ducks into the Tardis, she's all, "enough rope a dope" and slaughters them all. In the end, she also kisses the Doc, but is upset when she learns this is the first time the Doctor has ever been kissed by her, which means its the last time they ever kissed too. But have they been exactly meeting backwards? I thought there was some jumping around, I didn't think it was that it was always earlier for her when she appears.

Where do "frick" (elliott/scrubs) and "fark" (eponymous website) rate on the scale of "fuck" replacements?

Oh, I use frick and frak interchangeably, I just didn't count it because it wasn't from a sci-fi show. But as far as I'm concerned, they're equal. And I've never heard fark used in that manner.
