I cannot wait for The Priscilla Queen of the Desert Musical, I have to catch it next time in NY (well, after it comes out). Looks like there's a new preview out:
TV commentary:
Glee- Say what you will about the Biebs, but I always found "Baby" to be catchy as hell. But wait, I assume when Sam and the boys were doing Bieber's "Somebody To Love" they were making references to his performances? Does he really dance around blowing chalk dust all around?!
And hey, its Wendy the Waitress! Apparently she moved to Lima to become a nurse?
Wow Quinn's boyfriends are dumb. Last year Finn believed that he accidentally knocked up Quinn by accidentally "going off" while they were both in a hot tub in their bathing suits, and now Sam thought Quinn got mono because she gave Finn mouth to mouth? Although I guess in the end Santana got him to stop kidding himself, so I suppose he knew the truth, he was just kidding himself to stay with Quinn. So now he and Santana are an item now?
Speaking of the ex-Cheerios, again, its nice to see them out of their Cheerios uniforms and in their own styles. Brit's style (before she started dressing like Rach, not that I didn't like seeing all the girls in sexy schoolgirl librarian chic) is still pretty unique, Santana is still sexy (I liked the one look with the leather jacket), and though Quinn always seemed plain jane to me, that on white dress she had on was really cute.
While I'm complementing the girls, I'll have to say I liked what they did with Lauren's hair during her rendition of "I Know What Boys Like". But what's up with the boys being more scantily clad than the chyx when Lauren was imagining everyone in their undies? I mean, Sam and Mike in nothing but boxers, but the girls were all wearing slips? bbv('That's total BS!')
I was wondering what context TMOLM would end up being sung on this show, but apparently Sue tricks Rachel and Mercedes into a diva off. When I first the song on Friday, I said I thought it was a perfectly fine rendition, but I can see how die hard Rent fans might think it doesn't have the emotion of the original. But the actual performance on the show is definitely better than the song itself. It was also amusing to see Sue's plan backfire and have Rachel and Mercedes actually have fun with the song and go back to being all friendly after being upset with each other because of Sue's meddling.
But Glee doing an original song? I dunno about that. I think the reason Glee did well when shows like Hull High and Cop Rock bombed was not because people weren't ready for it back then, but because Glee uses popular and classic songs. Well, if they do just one original song, that's fine, but I wouldn't recommend the show trying to do it regularly, even if they manage to get a really good song writer.
