TV Commentary:
True Blood- Okay, mebbe I only think this because I've seen a lot of TV/show movies of the supernatural variety, but isn't the healing property of vampire blood like common knowledge? (i.e., that a human consuming it would get superhuman strength, speed, and resilience, or if they were badly wounded, they could consume it andntheir wounds would heal magically) Like silver killing werewolves or destroying a zombies brain to put them down! Well, these things don't necessarily always end up being true, but it shouldn't be unheard of! Although I guess it could just be a rumor in the True Blood world, but it still seems weird that Jesus would be all shocked when Lafayette uses it to heal Cal Norris as if he didn't know that was possible. But I guess I was wrong about Crystal and her family being the witches- turns out they're were-panthers. And Cal's pissed he has vamp blood running through his veins now, tainting him. So now he's even more adamant that Crystal be with her fiancee, even if she doesn't love him (she just needs to lay there and have his cubs!) now that his bloodline is ruined. He's all, "That boy will leave you once he finds out who you are!" and I guess she hasn't known him all that long and that her were-pantherness is par for the course for him. Anyways, she decides to go find him and reveals her nature to him.
So who are the witches? Possibly Jesus and Lafayette! Despite Jesus distaste of V a few eps ago, after seeing it heal up Cal's dad. Which Lafayette did because there was no way Cal was going to make it. Which, are shifters stonger than normal humans? I guess a human can easily beat another human to death, but it seems like were-panthers would be just as resilient as were-wolves (although nothing on this show makes them seem more resilient, despite them saying they are, they seem to die pretty easily) so the fact that Sam was able to beat Cal within an inch of his life means he must be stronger than a human should. But I digress, with that act, he no longer sees V as a drug, but a shamanic tool. So he and Lafayette take some, and during a V-fueled bender, they see their ancestors (well, Jesus sees his grandmother and dad, though Lafayette sees relatives from back when there were still slaves) and how they both come from lines of magic user-types.
Although I guess that means Tara comes from that same line. Speaking of, she and Jason bury Franklin's remains, and when they go back to his place she gets all pissed to see Sookie hiding there with Bill. Well, she's less pissed about the hiding and more that she's back with him. They have another argument, where she finally tells Sookie the extent of what Franklin did to her and how Bill did nothing to help her. Sookie also finds out from Jason about him killing Eggs, and she encourages him to tell her.
Anyways, with Jason being all distraught over the Crystal stuff and Tara all PTSD over her ordeal with Franklin, they almost get intimate, but Jason feels guilty, and taking his sister's advice he reveals how he killed Eggs and begs Tara to get pissed. He wants her to hate him as much as he hates himself currently, but alas she just takes off.
But getting back to Sookie, Bill reveals the whole faerie thing to her, him having learned it from Claudine when he ended up in the glade during his slumber. He also reveals that the faeries were pretty much wiped out by the vampires because they were so tasty. That, and Sophie Anne wanted him keeping tabs on her because of the rumor that faerie blood will let them walk in the sun. But as Bill experienced- it does, but only for a short amount of time, and then they start to slowly burn again. But having told her the truth, it seems like they're good again. So when Eric shows up to try and talk to her, telling her not to trust Bill b/c of his secret Sophie Anne mission, since Bill just revealed all that, it doesn't have the intended affect. But he and Bill do end up having a convo where Bill ends up more or less confirming Sookie's fae-ness, and how that the sun protection is at least partially true.
Anyways, Eric is having a will drawn up to leave his wealth to Pam. Pam is kinda pissed, b/c she thinks that means he's given up. (And Yvette is kinda pissed since he's leaving it all to Pam!) He tells her how he's just being realistic, since he has to take on Russell and has no idea how to beat him. Eventually, Suckeh comes around to Fangtasia and talks to Eric about his confusing behavior and then how it seems like he's saying goodbye to her. He doesn't reveal any of the Russell stuff though. Eventually Pam takes him aside, asking why he doesn't give Sookie up to Russell to save himself, because he's gonna end up getting Sookie anyways. He still doesn't want to, but the pressure eventually gets to him, and he ends up locking Sookie in the dungeon, though it doesn't seem like he knows what he wants to do yet.
Speaking of Russell, he continues to be his kooky self, hiring male hookers who look like Talbot (played by Navid from 90210!) and then talking to them like they were Talbot, so he could apologize for not being there and then staking them. He's definitely on the run, as after his little stunt, the news reports the government sending a special forces team to his mansion to try and take him into custody, but its been abandoned. Heh, not a SWAT team, as I guess they realize they need the big boys to take him down. Though would they even stand a chance, with Russell and a bunch of ghoul-werewolves running around guarding him? I guess the world supposedly doesn't know of the existence of werewolves, so a Spec Ops team would prolly strike at daytime, thinking they'd be only facing ghoul guards. And I also guess in a world with vampires, the government prolly knows more than the public does, and might have operatives who specialize in killing vamps. Though that might work on younger vamps, but guys Russell's age?
Other happenings? Arlene continues to act her racist self, particularly after Steve Newlin goes on the news playing up the Russell incident and how its shows vamps for who they really are. (Nan of course has been doing spin control, saying he's a crazy man, and the rest of vamp kind isn't like him). Jessica eventually gets tired of her shit and calls her out on being a judgmental bitch. Anyways, Arlene's guilt starts to be too much for her, and she tells Terry that the kid in her belly is Rene's, not his. And he doesn't care! In fact, he's willing to raise another man's kid- and show them so much love that it has to counteract any possibility of evil from being Rene's progeny. Still, despite this, she goes to Holly Cleary later asking if she still has ways of getting "rid" of the baby that don't involve the A-word. (though how is that any different?)
Hoyt ends up dumping Summer and going back to Merlotte's to profess his love for Jessica. He just needed her to hear it, and then he leaves. Tommy gives him some shit outside, so Hoyt decks him. So Tommy turns into a pitbull and mauls Hoyt. But luckily for him, Jessica comes out at this point, sees him being attacked by a dog, and literally tosses the Tommy-dog (though I'm guessing she doesn't know its Tommy) away. Then she makes Hoyt drink from her to heal his wounds.
As for Tommy's big bro, the rest of the Merlotte's staff (apparently there are a bunch of people working there besides Arlene, Terry, Lafayette, Sookie, Jessica, Tara, and Holly Cleary that we haven't seen until now?) are giving Sam a wide birth given how he flipped out the night before and almost beat a guy to death. Anyways, we find about his shady past, where he used to use his shapeshifting to sneak into houses to rob them. But then his gf at the time (played by hottie Arielle Kebbel) betrays him, and she and her secret other bf roll him for the jewelry. He tracks them down, and threatens them at gunpoint to give him the money they got from fencing what he "rightfully" stole. After he gets that, he beats the crap out of the guy, but it seems like he's the one the girl prefers, as she pulls a gun and threatens Sam to stop beating the guy. He ignores her, and she shoots and misses. He instinctively returns fire and ends up killing her, and he's quite upset, since it seems like he really did like her. He's so upset he ends up executing the guy over the whole thing. So looks like Sam really did have a pretty dark past.
