Cause I'm bluffin' with my muffin'

Glee- The Lady Gaga (and KISS) episode! Sure, Puck and Finn's rendition of "Beth" was sweet, but the girls (and Kurt)'s "Bad Romance" easily blew away "Shout It Out Loud" (although its hilarious that the first time Matt gets an actual line, he's in KISS makeup, so you don't even know its him!) I only wish they did the full song. And that the show woulda shown the cool Quinn punching from the tour performance during the version done on the show (you could still see it in the corner, but she wasn't nearly as fervent about it). But holy frick Santana was so hott in this. I'm glad she's getting showcased more, she definitely rocked her part there at the end.
Anyways, the whole thing with the two football players threatening to beat up Kurt and shoving him and Tina infuriated me. You don't physically assault someone because of their sexual orientation, and if you're a guy, you certainly don't shove a girl into a locker. And going with my belief had I gone to high school post-Columbine I would totally be flagged as a psycho, if some jocko mcletterman did that to a gay and female friend of mine, and threatened to kick the crap out of them unless they stopped acting all gay, I would've been crippling their football careers in a heartbeat. I dunno why gay-bashing pisses me off that much, but to me assaulting someone for that is absolutely one of the things you DO NOT DO. The heart wants what the heart wants, and I can't believe that's deviant or deserving of such hatred.
Anyways, while I was extremely moved by Burt's speech, its not like it was a sitch where the straight guy assumes a gay guy likes him because gays like all guys and will try to molest any guy they're left alone with. Because let's not forget Kurt initially fixed their parents up because of his crush on Finn. (If Finn was a girl who was suddenly forced to share a room with her new stepbrother, and he was acting the way Kurt has been acting in some of these past eps, Kurt wouldn't have gotten the free pass he seems to be getting) And I do think Finn was freaking out about more than the gay thing, he has been suddenly uprooted, so I think he was pushed to the edge. Particularly with the other football players starting to accuse him and Kurt of being a gay couple. Let's not forget, even though Finn's the "nice guy", he's cared more about his popularity than the other jocks and cheerios. While they've always chosen Glee, the one time they were given an ultimatum, he chose football. So just like he's treated Rachel extremely shittily because his popularity was threatened, he was doing the same here to Kurt.
But despite Kurt's crush, I think Kurt has mellowed out a bit since "Home", and at that point he was legitimately trying to be friends with Finn and help him out, not seduce/molest him. Although I'm skeptical that he'd be that out of touch with straight tastes that he'd think Finn would actually like the way the room was decorated. That being said, Burt's speech was perfect. He's definitely one of the best gay fathers ever (as in a father of a gay, not a father who is gay). However, I would've liked to have seen Kurt have some culpability in all this. I mean, his dad only saw that part where Finn was calling his son a fag and shouting at him. What father wouldn't protect his son? Its not like he knows Kurt has a crush on Finn, and was being a tad bit manipulative.
In the other main plot of the ep, Rachel confronts Shelby about being her birth mother. And surprisingly early in the ep too! It was odd how fast paced it all was though. "You're my mom!" "Wait, even tho I'm the one who manipulated things to cause you to seek me out because I can't have any more kids, I can't do this!" "Owel, let's just acknowledge each other from afar then!" I think some of the emotional impact is lessened because of the fast pace of their relationship. It almost seems like, why did they show us this if nothing was gonna come out of it.
I mean, I get what Shelby's saying, because of the life she's lived separate from Rachel she doesn't feel like her mom, like there's a part of her that's weirded out about doing the mom thing since she missed most of her life. And Rachel feels the same way, but since the story moved so fast, you kinda miss the line where she voices that same opinion- how she's feeling upset, and she should want her mom to reassure her and say it will be all better, but she too would feel weird if Shelby actually did start doing it. Of course, its only been A COUPLE OF DAYS, so maybe they should give it more time before deciding its too weird.
In any case, I am glad its a storyline where Rachel doesn't get dumped on by her supposed friends because it always bugs me when they do that. At least this ep, the things they did make fun of her about this ep (her weird beanie baby dress, is that an actual look Lady Gaga did once?), they weren't as vehement as they usually are to her. Like I've said before, Rachel's one of my top 5 fictional character crushes, so it bugs whenever they gang up on her for no good reason, so I'm happy there was none of that. I mean, she's cute (she's kinda got a big face, but she's got such a sweet smile) and talented and driven and totally narcissistic, but in an amusing rather than annoying way. Plus, the narcissism is totally a mask anyways, she may act all high and mighty, but she's the most insecure of the bunch. And for all her supposed selfishness, she's always been a better friend to the group than they are to her. I mean, when they found out Shelby was her mother, they could've been mean about it and ganged up on her like they usually do and accuse of her of doing something self-serving, but other than a slight worry that Shelby might steal her away, they were unusually understanding about the whole thing.
Oh, I guess Tina's kinda the C-plot, or is it the A-plot, since it was Figgins telling her to stop being Goth because he thinks Goths are actual vampires that prompted the whole Lady Gaga thing? Well, technically it was finding out Vocal Adrenaline was doing Lady Gaga, but like Will said, its a two birds/one stone thing, they were gonna use it to find a new look for Tina.
In any case, even though it was a little ridiculous for Figgins to think Goths were actual vampires, I was amused at the way they poked fun at Twilight. And Tina's line, "My mom doesn't even let me watch Twilight, she thinks that Kristen Stewart girl might be a bitch." HA!!! And them resolving it by having Tina just pretend to be a vampire and threaten Figgins into stopping his censorship of Tina was kinnda hilarious.
Oh, and I'm amused looking at the forums and seeing people who had heard Beth was going to be a song this week and were all, "Oh, so that's why they picked that song, that's what baby Drizzle's real name is gonna be." I mean, when I heard that song title, that was my immediate thought. I mean, "hmm, Quinn and Puck are having a daughter, and here's this sweet ballad about a girl named Beth", what other reason would they have for a song called Beth?!
So next week's ep was actual supposed to be before tonight's, but they changed the order for some reason. Hmm, looks like there's a scene of Santana looking all sad with her hair down. Aw, it makes me want to just comfort her (among other things, heh)
