At the bookstore today, noticed G.I.Joe Vs Cobra: The Essential Guide. Looking through it, its actually a pretty comprehensive look into both the comic (well, the Marvel/Image/DDP continuity) and cartoon. They kinda fudge the bios by including stuff that happened to characters in both the cartoon and the comic. Like they follow the comic continuity and pair Scarlett and Snake Eyes rather than her and Duke, but they also mention the Shipwreck/Cover Girl relationship from the tail end of the DDP run, while also mentioning his fling with that Mara mermaid chick in the cartoon. Heh, they also mention the Duke/Falcon being half brothers from the cartoon, but also say the exact nature of their connection is unknown, because Duke's family tree doesn't seem to support that, as they aren't half brothers in the comix.

In any case, their Joe roster is pretty comprehensive, I think it does have all the Joes from that one big-ass pic I posted here before. Its odd though, they do a write up on General Rey, but no mention is made of the Phoenix Guard. They also have other DDP/Image-run creations like the Stalls (Barrel-Roll, Bombstrike and Black Out), Wraith, and Firewall, but they don't cover the Plague or Delta, which is odd given the book mentions the Baroness' secret Athena Guard, which only showed up at the very end of the series. They also list the Para Viper amongst the Cobra troopers, which is a figure that only came out last year, so I'm surprised that it is pretty up to date but omits certain things.

Heh, I also paged through a trade paperback covering the origin of Megatron, and I'm amused that they had a scene from his gladiatorial combat days where he fights a robot who looks very much like Cy-Kill of the GoBots.

TV Commentary:

Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead- So, there's only 5 David Tennant eps left, before they change to the new guy, but did this past Christmas special count towards the 5? It was an interesting standalone ep. I was expecting more people to die grisly deaths as per usual, so I was pleasantly surprised everyone but the driver and those bug aliens survived.

Michelle Ryan was interesting as Lady Christina De Souza. While she did seem to fit perfectly with the Doctor- she fit a little too perfectly. I mean, I get they were trying to point out that they got along and she was pretty skilled and could prolly hold her own on their many adventures, he was so devastated by the losses of his previous companions that he wasn't willing to open himself up to that kinda pain again. But it seemed a little forced, its like "Lookee, she'd make a perfect companion!"

Well, obviously he has to know he lifts that caveat, since River Song becomes his companion in his future but dies in the past before they met. But he over-dramatizes that everyone who travels with him gets hurt. Sure, the last season finale (or at least I think it was the last season finale) showed all those people who died for him, and it sucks that Donna had to have her memories of their adventures erased, and Captain Jack's immortality is much a curse as it is a gift, and he's forever separated from Rose. But they're all still alive, and Rose even got both her parents back as well as a Doctor Clone to grow old with. And hey, his daughter isn't really dead, and things turned all right for Sarah Jane Smith (though I guess she was stuck in a rut for decades after he just dumped her off all those years ago), and Mickey (hey, he got to reconnect with his alternate universe Grams and become a heroic bad-ass), and Martha, even if her love for him was unrequited. So even though he's seen his share of loved ones die, a lot of them aren't that bad off.

True Blood- Ooh, interesting ep this week. So, even though Bill is all good now, he actively participated and even enjoyed killing with his sire. I wonder what changed? Unlike the Buffyverse, there's none of that soul stuff, so I'm curious what ended up happening to turn him all goody-goody. I wonder what Sookie will do once she finds out?

Heh, Hoyt actually told his mom Jessica is a vamp. While him driving all the way down to Dallas because he was worried she'd be all upset since his mom cut off his phone and she would know and possibly thought he might be ignoring her was kinda sweet, isn't it a little stalker-y? Though I don't think this is the final word his mother as, I'm sure this is just the beginning of her trying to throw a monkeywrench in their relationship now that she knows Jessica is a vamp.

That sun-crucifix thing is horrifying! Even if one believes vamps are evil godless creatures, I find the idea of such an ostentatious and cruel spectacle appalling. Battle against one's enemies should be business-like. Well, there's nothing wrong with getting a little glee from the adrenaline rush and bloodlust. But engaging in sick ritualistic murder? Over the line! And hey, Sarah is hot, but Jason screwing her in the church? How blasphemous! And geez, he didn't even notice his sister just got captured? I wonder who the traitor who sold Sookie and the one chick's bf out is?

And interesting, Eggs has memory loss- looks like he was once at some orgy where some one was ritualistically slaughtered? Like Sam is about to, because Daphne totally played him? And that helm Mary-Ann was wearing, combined with the claws she sprouted last ep, I guess she definitely is the thing that attacked Sookie?

Entourage- Bah, these guys lives are so hard! Like E, dang, he has a little hottie all over him, yeah, that really sux! And Turtle is getting Ferraris from vince and Porsches from Meadow. Well, I guess I can see why he feels bad and doesn't want to be a freeloader, so at least he's not a piece of crap and wants to better himself.

But what's up with these rich effs who get to race Ferraris for fun?!

Criminal Intent- Wait, since this guy was a big time forensic specialist, doesn't that put all his cases into question? And I totally didn't realize the girl was supposed to be underage until they said so.

I also didn't realize Wheeler was that far along! I saw in the commericals that Eames and Nichols were gonna be partnering up, but I didn't think it would be because Wheeler popped her kid out because like I said I thought she was only recently knocked up.

In Plain Sight- Its nice to see Kelly Hu still in stuff. And engaging in lesbo action! Heh, wasn't her last role as a hooker who dressed up in a schoolgirl outfit?

And I can never tell if i'm reading too much into things, but does Marshall love-love Mary? And even if they are best friends, why would he be the maid of honor if she has a sister?

I think that was what they were going for with Marshall, since he looked all disappointed and stuff. And man, 10 years ago, Kelly Hu/Sherilyn Fenn would've been awesome. Now, less so. Though Kelly Hu still looks great.

And replying to myself, the Mary engagement thing is strange anyway, cause she doesn't seem to like the guy at all. Also that he could be banging the much hotter younger sister, but instead goes for the mannish one with the freaky plastic surgery lips. And could I be more superficial in these two comments?
