Dec. 9th, 2008 04:13 pmAwesome, I totally did not notice this as the writer's block prompt of the day until someone else made a post about it:
"Spike and Angel, President Roslin and Gaius Baltar, Harry and Hermione—shippers often find pairings that the original author might have overlooked. What coupling of fictional characters would you most like to see?"
I think I've listed it a couple of times before, but here's the 4 I'd like to see (I couldn't figure out a fifth):
1) Derek and Casey, Life With Derek- this would never, ever happen on the show, because they're step-siblings. But their on-screen chemistry is undeniable.
2) Dan and Blair, Gossip Girl- Personally, I think the pairing could acutally work. Yeah, they're from different worlds, but they're also both hopeless romantics. And I think they'd end up cancelling the assiest parts of the other, making each other better people. As good as Chuck and Blair are on the show, them actually getting together and living happily ever after just rings false to me. They just have so many issues with themselves and each other I can't see them changing each other for the better. Dan could be good for Blair. And to a lesser degree, I can see Vanessa and Chuck working out similarly.
3) Katara and Zuko, Avatar, the Last Airbender- The show really expects us to believe a hottie like Katara would choose lame, boyish Aang over the brooding, jumped in front of a lightning bolt for her prince of the Fire Nation? I think the Avatar's just a little too kid brother-y for her. Though as I've always said, a movie with them older centered around a triangle between the three of them (the Avatar vs the Fire Nation Prince, part deux?) would be quite compelling.
4) Ryan and Summer, the OC- Now I really liked Seth and Summer together, and Ryan and Taylor together. But I always thought Ryan and Summer would be really interesting.
Speaking of shipping, that had me thinking, what do people think youtube is for? Going by my own youtube habits, it would seem:
- Watching ship videos
- Watching bad-ass AMVs showcasing ass-kicking to cool beats
- Watching kinda cuties do songs on their guitars
- Watching cutscenes from video games I'm too lazy to play but want to know the storyline to
- finding clips of some scene from some TV show or movie that popped in your head
- watching music videos, since the actual music video channels on TV don't show those anymore
- car and gun pr0n!
I mean, what else would you use it for?

Date: 2008-12-10 01:55 am (UTC)- that tv clip thing you mentioned
- sports highlights
- people injuring themselves (i suspect that overall, this may be their most popular category)
- random politics type stuff
And btw one of your "kinda cuties" says this in the FAQ of her profile:
"How old are you?
15."
