Had the usual suspects over for some unhealthy eating.
phatjoe had passed on to the roomie about this burger he heard about from someone else where instead of buns it had grilled cheese samiches. Now, we're not talking a patty melt here. Its like you take two grilled cheese sandwiches and then put a burger in between them. So the roomie cooked up some grilled cheese sandwiches (bread, butter, two pieces of cheese, either American and Cheddar or American and Pepper Jack), then grilled up some burgers and we tried it. Its pretty good, but truthfully, it doesn't bring anything new to the table, its just like a more unhealthy patty melt. At least having the krispy kreme buns is a distinctly new taste, a sugary sweetness that blends with the burger.
Also, watched Jodhaa Akbar, which
zarathrustra94 and
turdburgler lent me. (Finally got around to watching it yesterday, since I'm so backlogged that I haven't even played Force Unleashed, which C-note lent me weeks ago, but haven't gotten to because I was feeling so miserable on my meds that I could hardly do anything out of work and sleep and watching some TV. But today he also dropped off Assassin's Creed!) Its like an Indian epic movie, though occasionally would break into song. Which is pretty cool. As I've always said, not enough movies have musical numbers. Oh, but one thing about epics that take place in places like India and Southeast Asia- huge battle scenes featuring elephant cavalry! How are war elephants not cool? They're like smaller, living AT-ATs!
In any case, I enjoyed the movie. Though I had to take pause every so often to make sure I knew the political things going on. Although I find it hilarious that they would use the dramatic chipmunk music every so often. Sometimes appropriately, like when a certain someone would betray the main guy. But when they were arranging his marriage to Jodhaa, they're all, "She has a few conditions though!" and they play that music? Yeah, if they didn't marry, there would be huge political ramifications, but I think the music was overly dramatic for the scene.
I guess the other thing I found odd was that when a subordinate was insolent (or rather, they "politely disagreed" with his policies and were only slightly seditious), he would be all, "Go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land!" Well, mebbe its only odd because there were only two kinds of punishments throughout the movie- that, or get dropped off a balcony head first!
At church today, I was sitting next to this blond cutie with a newborn. I'll admit it, even though I'm like old now, I have like Peter Pan syndrome, I'm like stuck in the same mindset I was in my late teens/early twenties. So I'm inclined to think this chick is older than me. But truthfully, she's most likely my age or younger! I mean, when my dad was my age, I was already 5! Yikes!
TV commentary:
Truthfully, I'm actually getting into True Blood the more eps I watch. Their mythology actually isn't too bad. But heh, I never expected to see Jimmy James making out with a dude.
Interesting Entourage. Truthfully, I was thinking, "why wouldn't one take the studio head position?" Particularly since he'd be in position to get Vince un-blacklisted. But I guess Ari is his own boss, and I guess he does like things on the side of the table he's currently on. That was an interesting dilemma though, that if he didn't take it, Carla Gugino would get the job, and then he and Vince would both be screwed. So I really thought he was gonna take the job, I didn't think he'd get Dana the job instead.
Tsk, tsk, since Johnny and E were all skeptical that Turtle got a handie from Meadow Soprano, they kept ragging on him about it, so it got all over town and she got pissed at Turtle. But for all his idiocy, Drama does know the guy code, and knows he screwed up by unintentionally cock-blocking Turtle. So it was cool of him to try and smooth things over!
Going out of the cut, since I'm no longer talking about Entourage but about generalities. But yeah, while the Bro code states certain chyx are off limits (well, I say they should be allowed if one asks permission and makes a strong case), it also states thou shall not salt the game of another Bro. Its a blatant violation of the guy code, and totally not cool!
