Actually, I wonder if that actually was the lead singer of the Spin Doctors on HIMYM last night. Its not like he's doing anything nowadays, right? And if people like the "O-face guy from Office Space" can get a paycheck making a cameo appearance on a sitcom, shouldn't the guy responsible for "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" be able to also?
And I don't get this Funny or Die video of Natalie Portman and Rashida Jones rolling around in bed with puppies because of the global economy crisis? Is it just, "Hey, here are some cuties with cute little puppies (as in actual young dogs, not a clever reference to their breastesses)!" Cute, yes, but funny? Not really!
Oh, and saw this post the other day about Dakota Fanning being a high school cheerleader nowadays. Not that she's playing a high school cheerleader in an upcoming movie, that she's an actual cheerleader at her high school. Weird! Well, one because she looks totally different nowadays (I guess because she's growing up). But two, she's effin famous! I mean, my high school crush was an actress and a cheerleader, and she was in a movie before high school, but it wasn't like it was a big role. Dakota's been in Academy Award nominated movies with such great actors as Sean Penn and Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington! Its like what happened to her? I'm reminded of that "Dakota Fanning Show" skit on SNL where Amy Poehler as Dakota Fanning gets all incensed that Abigail Breslin had gotten an Oscar nomination and she hadn't.
TV commentary:
I've tried getting into "My Own Worst Enemy", but its been failing to hold my interest.
OTH- Ah, so when Mouth left at the beginning of the season, I thought they were just trimming down the cast. But he's back. And his storyline is ridiculous. So after telling his station manager "F U, this job sucks, I'm taking a job in Omaha!" (On the air, no less!), and the Omaha job not being as great as he thought it would be (though still a better experience than Robin has on HIMYM, more on that later) particularly with Millie moving back to Tree Hill to help Brooke, he goes back to get his old job back. And he's ready to grovel to get it back, but before he can, they show that they're so desperate to have him back, he manages to talk them into a raise, a new office, and an intern.
But who ends up being his intern? Gigi! I always thought she was deceptively hot. But no longer is she the shy goody goody girl from high school, she's ditched the glasses, dresses like a naughty school girl, and is apparently a nympho bi-sexual who regrets not jumping him back in high school and wants to now. That's friggin retarded! I know, wouldn't I be all, "That's cool!"? It just does not make cents. And with the next preview having her all, "You're gf is hot!", he'll prolly end up having a threesome. Is there some writer that the character represents, whom the writer is living through vicariously? I mean, the character is played by Minkus from Boy Meets World! And besides the above girls, Brooke thought she would marry him in the future, and there was Shelley the re-virgin (played by the made cute Elisabeth Harnois of Point Pleasant fame) and hot Rachel (who coincidentally plays Stella's horny sister on last night's HIMYM). I would totally say that makes up for losing Topanga (given what happened to her) to Kevin Arnold's little brother. (Speaking of, I forgot to mention he was playing Nicole Richie's hubbie on last night's Chuck).
But I'll give people a break on OTH and rant under a cut. But I guess he's not the only one with good fortune. I mean, the rest of the Tree Hill folks are living large. Haley's a friggin school teacher and Nate's unemployed, but they live in a big house and can afford a nanny and multiple SUVs. Luke has his big house even though he's just a high school basketball coach who wrote a few books (and according to next week, The Comet is being made into a movie!), and apparently he and Peyton can spend the whole day screwing around. Like wasn't she a poor music studio intern when they did the flash forward? Yeah, Lucas' mom gave her the space for her studio, but shouldn't she actually be doing something to make money?!
And then Haley telling Brooke she's so strong for turning her back on a multi-million dollar corporation. Well, since it hasn't seemed to impact her income any that she can take in a wayward teenage orphan, I guess its not a big deal! Oh, and I guess smashball guy was Owen the bartender. I totally forgot about him and why he was gone.
So on Prison Break, they manage to catch Wyatt. Bull, that guy is a monster! Yeah, he was outnumbered, but they seemed to take him down way too easily. And their plan to steal the last card was a smash and grab? Wasn't the whole thing in the beginning that they couldn't let the company know they were trying to steal the cards? Though I guess they were just gonna dose him up with morphine, copy the card on the way to the hospital (actually, don't they need the device for that?!) and replace it on him.
And it turns out it wasn't just that Sara was mad about the whole torture thing, there was some blond guard who helped Sara out whom Gretchen killed in front of her, and that's what really has her goat? But how hilarious was it that Gretchen was willing to let Sara whip her to make things even. Kinky!
So, on HIMYM, I guess Stella wasn't the mother. But when they upped the wedding date because Stella took over the wedding plans of her sister (played by Danneel Harris, again Rachel from OTH. Not to be confused with Danielle Harris from the Last Boy Scout, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, and the Haloween series, both the original and the Rob Zombie remake!) I figured, well, I guess things are coming to a head sooner rather than later. I can't believe Ted didn't pick up on the whole unresolved feelings thing. It seemed pretty clear that she wasn't over her ex (she even frickin' said, "I had been trying to get him to man up and finally marry me for so long, but he just never did!") when she brought it up when he said Robin was coming. And it was obvious the Tony guy still had a thing for her. So what did he expect?
And poor Robin. I don't think she actually has unresolved feelings for Ted, its just her life is so crappy now (having quit not one but two terrible jobs). I do think its telling that she went to Barney for support. But I guess her catching him with another chick wasn't too bad for the BroTP. She doesn't actually know how he feels about her, so its not like she thought he betrayed her or anything, she just figured, "Oh, he's too busy being typical Barney to help her with her shit", and she wouldn't be a very good bro if she cock-blocked him just so she could feel better. Particularly since Barney ended up getting a threesome with Stella's sister and the spa receptionist. spcv('Nice!')
He is of course disappointed. (Not disappointed enough to not get the threesome, thankfully, because he's still Barney, and Stella's sister was way too hard to resist) But again, since he doesn't think Robin will ever think about him that way, what can he do? Given he is who he is today because of the Shannon betrayal, it would not be true to his character to have him all pining and giving up bimbos for Robin just yet. So since its seemingly one sided so far, I don't think him sleeping with those girls is as bad as it would've been if all the cards were out on the table. Even Lily, who was all for Barney trying to get with Robin the beginning of the season, is so skeptical of them getting together that she didn't think it was a big deal for Barney to bang someone else.
Anyways, with SagetTed all, "If I had just let Stella talkRobin out of leaving, things might've gone a lot differently" and the flashforward to 2030 with two different kids, was the blond girl (who was visibly older than the other kid) supposed to be a grown up Lucy? Though she should be in her late 20s in 2030.
