Okay, that was one of the awesomest eps of Gossip Girl evar. It was just so beautifully brilliant how everything tied together. Well, lets start out with the things that don't tie together. So, Lily's back, and she's bored because Bart's ignoring her for business. So she's taken to hanging out with Rufus. But then Rufus calls it off, because then they're just falling back on old habits, acting like they can be with each other even though they can't since she's married to someone else now. I think the most laughable part of the sitch is she only chose Bart b/c Serena wanted to be with Dan in a gf and not stepsister capacity. And look at them now! How deliciously cruel!
Meanwhile, the other girls are making Jenny's life a living hell. Geez, hold grudges much, hasn't she suffered enough?
In the Nate/Vanessa part of the story, Nate's trying to figure out why V's avoiding him. She continues to do so, per her agreement with Catherine. The duchess drops by the gallery and rewards her with 5 grand for her silence, running off before V can throw it back in her face. So Vanessa goes to Catherine's place, where she finds Marcus and Catherine totally doing it. She takes pics, which she shows to Dan, who tells her Blair can take care of it. And Blair does. Only stupid V didn't give B enough time to enact her plan, thinking Blair was keeping it quiet and protecting her relationship with the lord. So unfortunately, while Blair was getting Catherine and Marcus to leave discreetly while keeping quiet about Nate's dad, V goes straight to the Duke, totally messing with her plans.
When Nate finds out all about this, he's not mad about no longer getting the Duchess' money, but the fact that V couldn't trust him. In her defense, Catherine made a pretty real and dangerous threat, she was just trying to protect Nate.
On the Dan/Serena front. Dan meets a new girl at school, Amanda, who's just like him, but a girl. Serena's friends haze the hell out of her so Serena comes is "ahead" post break-up. Even though they did it on their own, Dan, being the judgemental ass he is, blames her anyways. Like she's apologizing that she had no idea they would do that, and she didn't want them to do that, but he's all, "Yeah, right!" So since she's labelled a bitch no matter what, she goes with it, and takes back the Queen B throne.
She ends up getting the school to shun Dan, and B, who was off dealing with the Marcus-Catherine-Nate debacle, is confused when she comes back and finds Serena's back to being head of their little clique. But the kicker, that makes everything so awesome, was that Amanda was a plant hired by Chuck to manipulate the situation so that Serena would retake her throne, because I'm guessing dethroning Blair works to his benefit somehow.
Been watching Heroes as I type this up. Some interesting developments so far. Interesting, so its future Peter who shoots Nathan?! Because apparently something bad happens because Nathan exposes the whole people having abilities things. Present Peter goes after the gunman, and its totally obvious that future Peter switched places with present Peter. Somehow, he sends present Peter into some mysterious level 5 in the company, where Bennet is being kept, and he (present Peter, not Bennet) looks different. In fact, he looks like Weevil!
Anyways, Matt figures out what's up, so future Peter sends him to some mysterious deserted place (the past?!). Mama Petrelli knows what's up as well, and that's because we find out she's the one with the dream power that Peter first glommed. She warns him about how messing with time can have disasterous consequences, and how he may averted the disaster in the future he came from, he could've caused another disaster. What could it be? Mama Petrelli has a dream where the Heroes are killed by a new legion of super villains consisting of Niki (or one of her personalities), Adam, Sylar, Matt's dad, and some random black guy.
Getting to Nate, he dies. And then comes back. Thanks to Linderman!!! WTF?! (or is he a figment of Nate's imagination, like Chip Six?) Anyways, Nate turns all religious, saying that it was god who revived him. Governor Scarecrow/Captain Sheridan sees Nate's new press exclusive which is "god has a plan" (so Future Peter decides not to shoot him a second time) and mysteriously says "This could be the guy we're looking for!" to some Tracy Strauss chick. Who turns out to be Niki! Or one of her personalities. Though I'm not sure if she's pretending not to no Nathan, or somehow this new incarnation of Niki doesn't have those memories.
Mo is about to head back to India, until Maya is all mad that he's not going to cure her that she almost kills him. But that causes Mo to figure out powers are tied to adrenaline, so he comes up with a formula to give people powers. Its like a supervillain origin, where he's all, "If I had powers, I could've stopped people like Sylar". So he injects himself and becomes a superman of sorts. I'm curious if he also got some sort of seductive powers, given how quickly he was able to seduce Maya once he saw her again. Yeah, I'm sure this new power won't corrupt him. And it looks like it has some gross after effects- so he jumped the gun a bit when he was all, "my new formula is gr8! It gives you powers with no consequences at all!"
Sylar corners Claire and finally gets her power. (Geez, how many invulnerable people do they have now, her, Peter, Adam, and now Sylar?!) Heh, he makes a point to say he doesn't eat the brains, he just studies them. She survives and he's all- "You're never going to die!" She freaks, particularly since now she feels no pain either and wonders if she's human anymore. So she's doing the trying to kill herself thing again to see how far she can go, this time trying to throw herself in front of a train, but Peter saves her at the last minute. Given their real life relationship, them acting all familial seems a little creepy.
Heh, Hiro's CEO of Nakamura enterprises or whatever the hell the name of his father's company is (wait, wasn't his sister in charge before). Hilariously, he's given a DVD that he's supposed to watch after his father dies. Sulu is all, "You are tasked with guarding a safe, but don't open it!" So of course, Hiro opens it. The safe includes half of a formula and a note saying play. They play the DVD longer (heh, if they actually continued playing the DVD instead of stopping and going for the safe, that woulda looked silly!) where Sulu is all, "I told you not to open it! But now that you have it, guard it with your life!" It only takes him about a second to lose it to his new arch nemesis- Tyra's rival for Landry's affections, who happens to have super-speed. She's so fast, she can apparently walk and talk normally to Hiro even when time's frozen.
She gets away, so Hiro jumps to the future to see what might happen if the formula comes out. He sees future Ando blast future Hiro with some sort of red electricity power (perhaps he took Mo's formula too?) then get the formula. Hiro stays long enough to see a dark cloud destroy the city before he jumps back.
Ah, looks like Niki doesn't know who she is. Or she's just someone who looks like Niki as Linderman (or possibly Chip Linderman?) claims. She makes Governor Sheridan's offer to Nate, who's all "What's up Niki?" She's all, what the hell are you talking about and denies the whole thing. After consulting with future Peter (As Peter tells his bro, how would he know what Nate should do? He comes from a different future now that Pete changed things!) he decides to take this job. A reporter who made the Niki-Tracy link keeps harassing her. So she gets mad and grabs him. But instead of snapping him in half as I thought she might do, she freezes him to death, and he shatters to pieces. She seems quite surprised at this development. Curiouser and Curiouser.
Sylar finds out about Level 5 from some random files he perused in the Bennet home and goes to the company facility to get bv('The best') powers. He kills Bob, pissing off Elle, who frees Bennett to try and find Sylar. Sylar jumps them, and Bennett is understandably freaked when he finds out Sylar has Claire's power. Sylar knocks Bennett out and is about to get Elle's power when she lets out a huge electrical burst that knocks him out. But, it also takes out the security system, so the level 5 inmates all escape.
Heh, Elle can never catch a break. Mama Petrelli's the new boss now that Bob's dead, and even though Elle caught Sylar, she freed a bunch of other prisoners. So Mama P's all "You're fired!"
Hiro uses the new resources at his disposal (i.e., lots of money) to track down speedster girl. Knowing she's a villain, and therefore dishonorable, he tries to make a trade with her, using Ando as bait (and he wonders why Ando blasts him in the future, treating his "sidekick" like that), but knows she'd pull some kinda trick. He manages to plant a tracking device on her.
Bennett gets home and is there long enough to tell Claire he has to leave to take on the level 5 escapees: random black guy from Mama Petrelli's dream apparently has a fear power. And there's a flamethrower. And a German dude with magnetic powers (Magneto much? Are these guys the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants?) And Weevil/Peter is so dangerous HRG tells Claire she doesn't even want to know what he can do. Claire says she can help, but in typical super hero story fashion, he doesn't want that kinda life for her. Claire's all, but who will protect the family if he's gone. Apparently Claire's birthmom will be their new guardian. Though Claire doesn't seem to trust her.
Ah, Linderman is a figment of Nate's imagination! And wait, Sylar is Mama Petrelli's son too?! WTF?! And she's taking Sylar under her wing! WTFx2!
Meanwhile, the other girls are making Jenny's life a living hell. Geez, hold grudges much, hasn't she suffered enough?
