Hit Ruby Tuesday's for dinner with the roomie. Never been before, but at least now I can say I've been to all of those kinda chains, Friday's, Applebee's, Chili's, Houlihan's, Bennigan's, Houston's, etc.

Tonight's ep of South Park was hilarious, particularly because of all the "its funny because its true moments". I think the funniest one was when Stan's dad was all, "no more mindlessly surfing the web while watching TV", because the roomie was doing exactly that while watching the ep.

Honestly, I don't know what I'd do if I could access the internet for 8 days! I don't think I've never not accessed the internet for 8 hours! Okay, its not that bad. But I can say I haven't gone one day without checking the internet. Well, there might've been a day or two on my trip to Europe, but I'd usually hit the internet cafes or the hotel's internet access pretty much every day (as evidenced by the somewhat daily LJ posts while I was over there). Though I guess I was without access when I visited my dad's hometown in the Philippines, which was out in the boonies. And it was frustrating to be cut off like that. But I did hit the internet cafes in Manila, so I did have access for some portion of that trip. I guess I could say I haven't gone a whole day without accessing the internet in the continental US?

But yeah, one of the major parts of my job is ensuring that the internet is up, so I'm pretty much on the web for the eight hours I'm at work every day. (Actually, whenever we lose connectivity, the behavior of everyone isn't far from how they reacted on the show, the phone rings off the frickin' hook!) And with the hiptop, I technically have a link to the internet 24/7. So it would be very weird to not have access for an extended period of time.

Watched Criminal Minds on the picture in picture while playing SW2. So the case was about some high school kid going nuts and offing a bunch of people with an assault rifle. And one of the profilers felt a sorta kinship with the guy, understanding why the kid did what he did because the kid's life was so crappy. But the kid also had a blond snowflake cutie gf totally in love with him, so things weren't totally bad! Its like Chris Rock's Columbine comment from one of his stand up routines, "They had a picture of that club they were in, and there were at least five of them that hung out together! I didn't even have five friends in high school!" (heh, I guess if Everybody Hates Chris is to be believed, that's actually true!)

Then again, I guess the thing that finally set the kid off was his gf's father trying to stop her from seeing him. Still, I was a little apalled by the profiler folks' idea for stopping him- they felt the reason he hadn't offed himself after killing all the people he did was because he still had her to live for. So they had the girl's friend text her on her blackberry and show her the mpeg he made of him executing some guys who bullied him so she would leave him in the hopes that he would just kill himself after she left! WTF?! I mean, they thought this was the only way to get her back safely, because if they tried to go after them, they were worried he'd kill her or she'd get killed in the crossfire. Ida know, most scenarios would prolly end with the kid dying, but there's a difference shooting him defending other people, and trying to get him to off himself in some dark corner somewhere! Sure, the latter would be less risky to innocents and the police, but its still kinda messed up.

And I have to call shinnanegans on them thinking that was their best and only tactic. They didn't know the situation she was in. How did they know she could check her blackberry without him knowing? (again, how bad could his life be if he could easily afford to get her a blackberry AND be able to pay for the access?!) Or that she could easily get away, or that she would try to get away instead of confronting him? I think there were too many variables to make it an effective course of action to get her back safe. And again, turning him suicidal? How do they know he wouldn't then choose to go out in a blaze of glory rather than eating his gun?!
