Tuesday night TV commentary:
Wait, did I miss an ep? When did Ginny have the baby? Wasn't she still preggers near the end of last season? Nice mid-riff baring outfit though!
And how odd to see goody-goodie Dr. Abbott from Everwood enjoying a strip club. Also amusing is Doug trying to get Hugh coming back to work but he's too busy ordering hot-ass hookers and buying new Lambos. Its almost like the last season of Seinfeld, when George started working for Kreuger and George being the one trying to get things done. And ha, they get Dale a job at Panco like he asked, and its as mailboy.
Woah, while Doug's trying to take his big shot, seems like everyone else is disinterested. I mean, Cal taking the fall because the assholish BS of the other rich kids offended him was a surprise, but the end, when Dahlia turns herself in as a parole violator?! Shocking!
SW2 geekery: Been playing more of mercenary mode. Like I said before, it feels less tedious than survival with the variety of stages and setups. And you can go quit out and go back later without losing your progress.
Anyways, have been doing merc mode with my new favorite character, Kojiro Sasaki. Ida know, I just like his sword style and attitude. His moveset looks cool, and is effective. Well, it doesn't seem so early on, because his earlier charge attacks do a lot of weird stuff with his "extra-dimensional sword". (Basically, he uses a no-dachi, but a lot of his attacks summon a giant floating sword). His c6-c8 are awesome though, and he attacks swiftly enough that one should have no problem at all doing those attack strings. Most of the time I just spam his c8. I like it because he does a sort of fencing-style thrust with his nodachi, then does his invulnerable blink thing, then comes around with the nodachi in a reverse grip in a 360 motion clearing out everything around him. It does a lot of damage too, particularly since his 4th and 5th weapons are ice element. The thrust will often freeze the enemy, and thus the final cut, which does a lot of damage already, does double damage. I've had times where its taken three inches off a health bar, killing guys I didn't even think were close to being dead. Tres useful.
So I alternate between that and his c6, where he grabs the guy, lifts him in the air, does a sort of energy drain thing. Since its a grab, its useful against turtling generals, and when he pulls his arm back after doing the energy drain, he damages anyone behind him as well, so he's not left vulnerable.
Learned some interesting trivia about Kojiro from wikipedia. I was wondering why one of his weapons was called "drying pole", but apparently the sword he carried's name roughly translated into "clothes drying pole", presumably called so because of its length.
Anyways, I've been playing as him, with Musashi and Akechi as his bodyguards. Heh, its the three main swordmaster guys. And I just realized, they each have unique styles- Sasaki is using the large two-handed nodachi, Musashi has the two sword style, while Akechi uses a normal katana, with some iai-jutsu moves. Merc mode has two endings, one from collecting all 10 mystic swords (which I guess are based in Japanese legend, given one of the swords is murasame and another is yasutsuna. Those are two I've gotten, I'm sure muramasa and masamune will end up being two of the swords), and one from pledging service to one of the clans. I'm going for the sword collecting one first, because pledging service to a clan starts the whole "uniting the land" thing, effectively ending the game.
