It seems some people in the game have deficiencies that are made up for by their r1 specials. Honda's like this. Yeah, he's relavtively slow, though not as slow as others, and I knock his moveset a lot, but its still pretty good. But anyways, when you do his r1 buff, he gets a significant speed boost, and becomes a monster.
Guan Yu's like this also. He's no fun to play unless you do his r1 buff (also an attack/speed boost) because he attacks so frickin' slow. But the speed makes him the bad-ass he's supposed to be.
Oh, and when I've been saying speed boost these past few posts, its not like Shingen's from SW2 where its the equivalent of getting the speed shoes. Hideyoshi, Honda, Guan Yu, the boosts speed up their attacks (Hideyoshi's will do the entire team) significantly.
But yeah, Musashi definitely makes better use of his weapon buffs. I think that's what really nerfed Lu Bu- he's not getting as many elemental hits on his SST+ and SSSSST+ anymore. Musashi has an insane number of elemental hits in his attacks (making multi even more lethal with him) whereas Lu Bu's only getting the element to come off in the last hit of those attack strings. That and they shortened the length of the shockwaves done by DW characters, which also nerfed Ma Chao. So they're not killing as many enemies around them as they used to.
